Well, almost. The strike is over, thank God, but work is eating me alive... and no change can be foreseen in the near future. Ah, well, at least I still do have a job. In these days people of my age ought to count their blessings.

My favourite ex-student was here today. She finished her first semester at university with fairly good results, which we celebrated, together with her name day, her upcoming birthday and Mum's birthday, which is the same as hers. A whole bottle of alcohol free champagne was drunk, and the rest of [livejournal.com profile] jilba's choco-cookies eaten.

Our old doctor has taken a turn to the worse. :(
We're really afraid to lose him.

Glad to hear the strike is over and that you had a fun day. It's so sad, though, that your old doctor is doing worse. I wish him the best of luck.

Yay! Return of Rhade! *is happy*

Yeah, it was a nice afternoon. To think that my little girl is going to college now and has hit 19... it's so strange. She was barely eight when I met her for the first time.

Yep, it's sad with the old doc, but it was a possibility we were aware of from the beginning - and he's beyond 80, so... Still hoping for the best.

He's a tough one, the old doc is. We phoned him today, he's got another round of the chemo behind him and feeling better again. Simply amazing!

Glad the strike has ended: I was worried you'd have no feet left, having worn them off walking kilometres daily!

As for work, well, yes: these days, we can still grouse about what's not good about work, but it's good to keep that note of appreciation for having a job all the same.

Hurrah for your student! And good wishes for comfort for your old doctor. And if it is his time, may his passing be peaceful. I know you and Mum will both miss him...[warm hug]

Actually, a colleague of mine picked me up a few times, so it wasn't all that bad, in the end... just annoying. But yeah, still having a job is a blessing in these days, even if a mixed one.

Yep, we'll miss the old doctor very much, although this turn wasn't entirely unexpected. It's just so that he'd been doing so well lately, we started to hope again... well, there still is the chance that he might come out of this, too. Old people can be surprisingly tough sometimes.

Sorry to hear your doctor's ill. I hope he takes a turn for the better!

Work seems to be eating everyone alive. Think of how much time we'd all have for other things if we could live in a Star-Trek-like universe where replicators and computers could take care of all the nasty stuff.

My favourites are the self-cleaning starships. I don't mind cooking so much, but cleaning... And the replicators apparently do the washing-up as well. Useful little gizmoes, aren't they?
