What's up with Yahoo Groups?
Jan. 3rd, 2010 07:14 pmIn the middle of uploading a file, it suddenly send me an internal error. connection to the server terminated message. Are they killing the groups as well as they've killed Geocities? Because that would piss me off royally. A decade of my work's worth is safety-stored in the Files sections of my various groups.

Date: 2010-01-06 03:25 am (UTC)For safety's sake, though, you should find another place besides yahoogroups to back up your old work. I suspect if Yahoo ever does shut down Groups, they will do it more quickly than they did Geocities.

Date: 2010-01-17 02:21 am (UTC)If you have enough money, make a second backup of your data every week and put it in a cupboard of a friend (if your house burns down, you may only loose the data of one or two weeks (depending on your frequency of backups), which would be bad enough but not a real disaster). Put all your stories, your photos and all your crucial unrecoverable data on it. You wouldn't have to think about your data on top of your personal disaster...
