Userpic expiring

Got this e-mail from LJ today:

Your paid account add-on of Extra Userpics for LiveJournal user "wiseheart" will expire in 12 days, at which time your paid account will revert to its standard features.

I'm not entirely sure what Extra Userpics meam - I only know I had this extra feature out of someone's generosity as an anonymous gift. What am I gonna lose if it expires? Half of my icons? All of my Scrapbook files? Both odds would be rather unpleasant.

I clicked on the link they provided, as my paid account - also the gift of an anonymous benefactor - will expire in February as well, but all I found were guidelines how I could set up automatic payment in US dollars. Well, tough shit. I can't pay them in US dollars. We've got different currency here, and having it exchanged and transferred would cost considerably more than a year's worth of paid account, even if I knew how to do it - which I don't.

Sometimes I really wish we would switch to the Euro, soon. Our national currency really limits my chances to do things other people do in their sleep. *sighs*

Edit: Virtual cookies for the anonymous benefactor who has just gifted another year's worth of paid account upon me. One day, I will find a way to do something like that for somebory, too - I hope.

The 'Extra Userpics' add-on allows you to have up to 100 icons, as opposed to the standard 30 for paid accounts. At the moment, you seem to have 19 icons, so you won't lose any icons if you allow the add-on to expire.

Scrapbook storage space isn't affected by the Extra Userpics add-on, so you won't lose any files there. (Scrapbook space is affected by having a Paid account, though: you get more storage space (2GB) for having a Paid account than you do if you have a Plus Account (1GB).)

Oh, thank you! I won't have to worry about my icons, then - it's extremely unlikely that I'd ever have more than 30.

The Plus account it the one that while free in itself, puts lots of ads on one's LJ, right?

Yes, Plus accounts are free, and they give you more features and benefits than Basic accounts - in exchange for seeing ads on most LJ pages.

Thanks. I'll take a look and hope fervently that I understand what I'm reading. ;)

I've got a very specific debility when it comes to written techincal information, even in Hungarian. Of course, it's usually a translation done by someone in Singapore or so, by Babelfish or something like that. Sometimes I understand more from the English original. *g*

Well, everybody who has a paid account won't even see the adds when logged in, so changing to a plus account in February may be the way to go. I pay my paid account with credit card (the exchange of currency is done automatically, this way), but it is one of the very few paid websites I can and will afford. And that is only because the dollar is that low, currently, in exchange with the Euro.Otherwise, I would probably switch to plus account, too.
