Last week was really unpleasant, work-wise. Not work itself, but all those things that usually don't belong to it but that cause you: a) not being able to do your work as you'd prefer to do it, and b) to go back to work on one of the only two free afternoons you have. Consequently, we had to do the shopping on Friday afternoon - which is a nightmare.
We decided to do some of our Christmas shopping, as they've already brought out these nice cosmetics packages that we always buy for our idiot relatives as a sale. Unfortunately, we mixed up the labels and managed to buy something outrageously expensive instead. So much for saving money through sale. *is really pissed*
Of course, since we bought all this Christmas stuff, we could only buy half the groceries we'd actually need. Not because of the money, because we don't have a car, and I only have two hands to carry things. Even so, Mum had to carry the chocolate Santas and all the other stuff that wasn't heavy. She can climb onto the tram well enough already, but not with her hands full. Well, we've managed somehow.
The really annoying part is that now I'll have to do some more shopping on Monday, at the very latest, because we've run out of potatoes and lots of other such basic things. Including flour, which is frigging heavy, again. Ah, well, it can't be helped - like the fact that Monday would have been my free afternoon next week. Life sucks sometimes.
At least I've cleaned the flat today. One less thing to do next week.
I also managed to send out all the pre-Christmas packages for my friends in far-away foreign countries. I had to send them as regular letters, otherwise the family wouldn't eat for the next three months or so. I really hope the things will arrive nonetheless. Although with my current luck... no, I'm not thinking of that!
I did very little writing this week, as my already irregular schedule was turned upside down at work. I wrote a little bit on the next chapter of "Web of Darkness" and a couple of paragraphs for "Auguries of Immortality. At this speed, I'll still be writing those chapters in a month's time or so. But it's very hard to work up inspiration when one's drowned in menial tasks.
There was supposed to be some conclusion, but I've forgotten what it should have been. Besides, Mum's calling for me to empty the washing machine. So, no clever thoughts for the end of the entry. Sorry.

Date: 2009-11-08 12:31 am (UTC)Fetching groceries can be such a chore -- and we have a car, so the weight isn't an issue. But The Beloved is out a couple nights and one weekend afternoon for his RPGs, and I've had some late nights at work, so we end up dashing in to get a few things we need instead of planning some healthy meals.
Good for you for doing some writing! I don't seem to be doing much of anything creative these days. However, I have to take some vacation days or lose them, so I am home Monday and Tuesday, plus Wednesday is a national holiday. With five days out of the office, I might manage to get some RL things done. (After all, I'm online tonight, so there's hope!)

Date: 2009-11-08 12:10 pm (UTC)Living in the cloister seems really attractive in these times. Days ran like a clockwork back there.
Edited, because I obviously can't even type anymore.
