Firstly: thanks for the support, everyone. It really means a lot. *hugs friends*

Secondly, LJ still seems to be acting up. It took me four attempts to view my flist (three times I got the message that I either don't have any friends on my list, or they haven't posted for two weeks - both of which is bollocks, of course.

Thirdly, Mum's feeling reasonably well. She's still yellow like a rubber duck, but at least she no longer glows in the dark and she isn't in pain any longer. Today, they even allowed her to eat some soup. We still don't know anything else, especially not when she will be allowed to come home. Not as long as she's still yellow, I assume.

Also, tomorrow comes the man who cleans the carpets. As we have fixed wall-to-wall carpets, the only way to clean them is to get the furniture out of the room. In order to do that, you have to empty the cupboards and stuff, because china in that magnitude weighs a ton. So I've been emptying cupboards since Tuesday. The flat looks as if a bomb had exploded in the middle. The really bad new is that I'll have to put everything back to place, which will be a real challence, as Mum's the one who usually knows where the respective parts of her beloved china belong. I've taken photographs from the inside of the cupboards... no, really, don't laugh! Even so, I'm not sure I'll manage to get everything in again.

I'm so very tired. Under normal circumstances, such an action leaves us both dead for days. Now I'm alone for the whole shit, and have to jog over to the hospital on a daily basis to see Mum. This is the first time I wish we had mobile phones.

Tuesday was when we planned to go to Vienna. Last big DVD-searching orgy before school re-starts, which is on Monday. Well, it wasn't meant to be, apparently, and there's a good chance the train company won't give us back our money, either. Ah, well, as long as Mum recovers, they can stuff the cash where the Sun never shines.

Wish me luck for tomorrow. I really dread this cleaning action - including curtain washing and assorted delights.

I also hope for good news, but it seems it will take some time till we learn anything.

I wonder if the LJ wonkiness is leftover instability from last week's DDOS attack?

I'm glad to hear your mother's doing OK for now. Here's hoping the yellowness soon goes away!

Thanks. We still don't know what caused the blockade, though, so I'm cautious with my optimism.

What is a DDOS attack?

Here's more about DDOS attacks. Basically, it's a scumball attempt to overwhelm a website with bogus requests in order to cause it to crash.

I'm glad to hear your mother is doing better, I've had both gallbladder problems and Hepatitus A which are both liver related problems that can cause jaundice. The pain can be very acute. Hopefully the doctors discover what's the problem and correct it.
I hope that the carpet cleaning goes smoothly and don't worry about getting everything back quickly. I more then wish you luck in your cleaning. That kind of stuff tends to take so much out of you. I haven't slept in my bedroom in two months. I tore part my bathroom and my house is badly built that it takes three times the amount of time to do things.

Thanks for updating - I have been worrying about you both :). I'm glad your mum is continuing to improve and is feeling more comfortable. Please keep sending her my wishes.

I think my weekend is going to involve lots and lots of housework too. My house is just... filthy. Seriously filthy. Perhaps thinking of you working will motivate me. Good luck!

I'm glad to hear Mum is at least feeling better. My best wishes to her for a speedy recovery.

Good luck to you with the carpet cleaning. Taking photos was a brilliant idea!

Take care of yourself. I'm sorry you're missing your Vienna trip together. Let me know what DVDs you're looking for: perhaps I can find some via Europe's amazon.com once our household finances are more steady again.

Even with the photos, the cupboard doesn't look exactly as it used to. But at least we're done with the carpet cleaning for another year.

Mostly, I would have been looking for the 2nd season boxed set of Torchwood, in the rather unlikely case that it would be out in Austria already. Other than that, I mostly hunt for sales of older shows, like SeaQuest, Alien Nation and such.

Found 1st season Andromeda last time, though, so that one is finally off the wishlist. *g*

Yeah, it's annoying. It's bad enough with my own book-case, but with Mum's cupboard, where I don't have a clue where things come, it's even more... interesting.

I defeated half the china already, and nobody died, even though the cupboard looks slightly different than on the photos I took. One more cupboard to go, and then I can start to actually put the rest of the flat back to proper order.

Sorry for being late - as I withe this, it's tomorrow already. Nevertheless I wish you al the luck you need, and don't worry too much about putting the stuff back in the right place, as you've got more important things on your mind. You should know what my house looks like - part of my crystal is stil unpacked for lack of a proper cupboard, though I moved two years ago.

I'm glad to hear your Mum is feeling better. Keep giving her my best wishes!

Thank you. I will. It delights her so much to know that people she met in foreign countried remember her fondly.

To bad I had so little time in the Netherlands. I could have gone cupboard hunting with you. I'm sure it would have been hilarious.

One of our cupboards - one that I didn't have to empty, thank God - is more than 200 years old and fills half the living room. But it's a beauty, made of walnut wood.

I'm very glad that your mother is improving; I hope she's improved still further by now.

And I hope that the cleaning went well yesterday. That sounds like a huge amount of work - I hope you and all of your china and everything else have survived intact...

The china and me both survived. The work was horrid, although it had the advantage of taking my mind off worrying about Mum.

She didn't have a good day today. I'll post an update as soon as I've phoned her in about half an hour.
