Still around, yeah...
Jul. 9th, 2009 12:16 pmSorry for the absence. Was working like a madwoman to get all those updates done, and with my diet requiring a great deal of cooking I usually don't do, there wasn't much time for anything else. No, I'm not ignoring anyone, I'm just insanely busy. Speak about holidays - their only purpose seems to be to do all the work I don't have the time for during school.
Anyway, yesterday we've had a great day.
rcfinch visited our backward little country for half a day with her daughters, and we've made the heroic effort to see as much of Budapest as it's humanly possible in a few hours' time. It was great fun, even if I'm fairly dead on my feet today. But it was a delight nevertheless, and good practice for the Great Benelux Tour, which starts next Friday. Am very excited. Hope the knees will cooperate.
Other than that, I've put up the first three chapters of The Child, the next installment to The Lost Years, my Original Trek/Original BSG crossover series, and am currently working like crazy to finish Chapter 4 before we leave town. That makes ten updated WIPs in the meantime, and about eight more to go before the holidays are over. Four at the very least, as they're not only overdue, but I might even have some hope to be able to move them along towards finish a step.
Will miss the "Dead Man Walking" episode of Torchwood, it seems, but that's moderately tragic. I'd have grieved "Reset" a great deal more. Still, it's annoying that I'll lack one episode from the middle. I'll try to find a boxed set of Season 2 during the journey, but knowing my luck with those things it's a bit doubtful. Oh, well, we'll see.

Date: 2009-07-10 10:41 am (UTC)Oh, by the way... You mentioned a while ago that you're interested in Pratchett's Discworld. Tomorrow on RTL, they air the first part of the "Colour of Magic" movie.
I saw the movie on DVD just a few weeks ago and it portrays the atmosphere of the early books pretty well.
Sadly, they crammed plotlines from so many different books into this one (admittedly long, but still too short) movie, that after the first half hour, which is a faithful depiction of the first book if I remember it right, it's more like a summary of the books than a real movie. It'd have been better if they'd made a mini-series with 1 episode/1 book, but oh well... It's better than no Discworld movie at all.

Date: 2009-07-10 09:38 pm (UTC)It's good to hear you had visitors. It's so nice to meet people from fandom; for once, one does not have to feel like a nerd when discussing one's interests. :-)

I intend you - you'd better start worrying! lol
It's really not that far and a plane ticket (return) can be had for approx. 175 EURO (perhaps less at the right time of year) so if one could find lodgings at a reasonable price (e.g. at a B&B), a weekend trip would not be out of the question at all.
