A Perfect Day
Mar. 8th, 2009 02:49 pmHave you ever had one of those? Well, this morning matched the criteria for me - save for small unpleasantries like an ach-y knee, but still.
For starters, we had our concert in the Hungarian National Gallery, as part of their weekly choir music performance, which is at 11 o'clock in every Sunday. Now, despite this fact, being accepted as a participant is an honour, considering what other choirs usually sing there: ones wit ten times as long an existence as ours.
Besides, singing in a building like that - which happens to be part of the Royal Castle of Buda - is an exceptional thing. Acoustics are wonderful, and wherever you look, you can see vaulted ceilings and long marble staircases and huge paintings hanging on the walls and all that. We sand directly under the dome... it was fantastic. And we didn't even screw up royally, which is a relief. I had that secret fear somewhere deep within...
Afterwards, since today is International Women's Day, Mum and I decided to spoil ourselves a little. So we went to the Szamos Marcipán Cukrászda, a wonderful little café, where you get the best cakes and cookies you can imagine. Look:

It's really small, has no more than six or eight tables, and through the glass walls you can see the coming of going our favourite shopping centre - favoruite because it's not so ungodly big, and because we can reach it by going two stops by the tram.
So, it was nice all around. We were still wearing our finery, since we came directly from the concert... it was fun.

And it's great to hear you had such a wonderful day. The café looks... mouthwateringly nice. If I'm ever in Budapest, would you show me where it is?
