Okay, after a two-day-hiatus due to extreme slave labour at school, I got to bake again. Today, special was "Schokoladenkekse mit Hagebuttenmarmelade" - and no, don't ask me what it's called in English, because I don't have a clue. It was hard enough learning all those cooking ingredients in German; and I had to, as the Germans have the best Xmas cookie recipes, jawohl!

In any case, I made these chocolate cookies, glued them together pair-wise with jam, and now they are drying and waiting to be painted with yummy chocolate icing tomorrow.

I also made the dough for Chocolate Stars (with ground almonds, ground black chocolate and other dietetic ingredients) and "Braune Pfeffernüsse" (with honey and special honey bread spices), because they have to rest in the fridge for 24 hours before you can bake them. The kitchen looked like a battlefield, but Mum was feeling generous and sent me away before I could collapse and cleaned up after me. She's truly a jewel.

Oooh, YUM.

Esteliel posted some pics of cookies she had made. I am not a big biscuit eater, but home-made ones look so much nicer than shop-bought - and taste better too.

Oh, yes, they're very tasty. I don't bake each year, either, as usually I'm way too exhausted at this time of the term - whatever people might think, working with children is a hard task - but this year, I felt very inspired. So far, I'm up to eight different sorts, and a few more will follow. *looks at her own girth ruefully*

I believe you!
Are they going to have some?

Not those I'm currently working with - I make very small amounts of each sort, so that we have something under the Christmas tree.

But a former student of mine, one with which I've kept good contacts during the years of secondary school (I'd had her as a student before, six years long) is coming tomorrow, and we're going to make some more cookies together. Then she gets a certain amount of everything to take home with her, in exchange for her help... and we're going to have a good time while working. It's much more fun to bake and decorate cookies when you're not doing it alone.

Definitely!
I'd like to bake things while talking with one of my f-list about their Tolkien fanfic -- but I can see that might be a disaster in the making. I burn too many things because of becoming involved in stories as it is XD

Oh, I think we'd all gladly burn the goodies when it would mean that we could discuss our stories. Authors are a tad obsessed when it comes to their writing. *g*

Lol, I am definitely obsessed with other people's writing! That is why I like LJ, as I can discuss it more. Reviews are for just that, but I love to talk about the plots and characters in people's stories on LJ.

In that case, you're cordially invited to hop over to [livejournal.com profile] edhellondawards where my latest LOTR stuff is posted. There is the occasional story or two written by other Edhellond members as well, but mostly they are my stories.

I love LJ for the same reason - plus, there I can sometimes insert pictures about actors who, IMO, look like my characters, so it's double fun.

That's exactly what I love about LJ - I use artwork normally, but occasionally real people, and like to put up images at the beginning of stories, sometimes at the beginning of chapters if I can make up something.

Thank-you for the link, I will definitely go on over! :)
