To be honest, I was very reluctant to watch the show, because I really, really don't like Christina Cox and the idea of two handsome guys fighting for her love felt completely unrealistic to me. But, well, vampire series, so I thought I'd give it a try, now that Moonlight has run off.

Boy, am I happy that I did! IMO, it's one hundred per cent better than Moonlight. Some of the cases are a bit too bizarre, but Kyle Schmid, the guy who plays 450-year-old vampire Henry Fitzroy (and why must all vamps be of royal blood anyway?) is absolutely charming... unlike Mick St. John who was of the boring, brooding, vanilla sort of bloodsucker.

I like the other guy, too (keep forgetting his name, Mike somethingitalian). And the slightly crazy Goth girl who plays CC's secretary. And seeing Francoise Yip on a semi-recurring role (one one-liner in every other episode or so) is nice, too. Plus, the series has a great deal of slightly warped humour, and Henry Fitzroy seems to enjoy being a vampire, which is a new thing.

*g* I loved that show ever since it started (couldn't stand Moonlight, though for the above mentioned reasons!) If you'd like the original eps (I only watched one ep in german synch and hated the voices) I can send you dl links, I have the dvds and all eps uploaded ;)

Oh, that would be lovely. Do I need any specific program to watch them or will Windows Media Player do?

Got them, thanks. I'm really curious, as I, too, prefer the original voices. If I can hunt down the DVDs when in Vienna, I'll buy them anyway, but a preview will be nice.

Then I'll have to give it another try. I only watched the very first episode and while it's kinda okay, it didn't enthuse me, so I forgot all about Blood Ties. It's difficult for me to remember to watch a series that starts so late when I haven't been watching another show earlier. At ten, I just can't be bothered to turn on the TV anymore.

But since you love it, I'll have to remember to watch it next Sunday!

Hm, I watched one episode, yesterday, and I as a bit disappointed - the books are so very atmospheric, and the series of TV has little of that atmosphere. Also, Vicki in the books is far plumber and not a beauty, while here she is pretty - too pretty, for my taste. But well. I like the way the plots are build; as in the books, the obvious solutions most likely not the correct one, and demons and vampires are people, too. ;)

As for Moonlight - do not get me started. It is a blatant Forever Knight Rip-Off, but without any of the atmosphere, or any of the good ideas. Bleurgh!

Well, I don't find Vicky pretty at all, but that's a matter of perspective, I guess. I wish I had read the books - they must be really good.
