Do you know the paperbook series "The Worlds of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine"? They're the size of the illustrated Bible, at the very least. I've got a flat of 53 square metres (including the balcony), where everything has its assigned place or we wouldn't have enough room to move around the furniture.

Now, you tell me, how in Hades could two such enormous tomes get lost in such a small flat? Is that physically possible at all? Apparently, it is!

I've got two equally enormous paperback omnibus editions from the generous [livejournal.com profile] lhun_dweller for my recent birthday. There were hints to certain events that happened in the former books, so I thought I'd look up a few details there. That was yesterday afternoon. I've been looking for the two oversized tomes in my mousehole-sized flat ever since. With no results so far.

Apparently, there's somewhere a black hole in my flat that eats books.

Good luck finding the books! I feel your pain and believe there might be some merit to your black hole theory. It'd certainly explain where some books I've been searching for since years have disappeared to :D

Apparently, the black hole was located on the highest shelf of my book-case where I never thought to look because I thought the books wouldn't get in anyway. Of course, the fact that they weren't so big, after all, and that there were three of them instead of two, might have played a role. ;o))

Haha, yeah, the size of books sometimes get messed up in your memory. Just a few months ago, I was so proud when I got a book I didn't like at all sold. I was all "now I've got rid of this huge book, so I have made room in my bookcase for at least two new books!" And then it turned out to be just a normal-sized paperback *laughs*

It's amazing how things vanish the moment you want them, isn't it?! I hope you manage to track them down...

Thanks, I have. My faulty memory had something to do with the vanishing act, it seems. When I finally found the friging things (naturally, in a place where I'd look last), it turned out that they are actually three smaller-sized books inside of two huge ones.

So much for senility. But at least I have them back and can finally read [livejournal.com profile] altariel's entry. I've only been planning to do so for oh, two years or so...
