I'm in desperate need of this book. Can somebody help?

Actually, I already own it in Hungarian translation - have had it for several years. But I'd require it in English as a source of my sci-fi stories.

Other than that summer holidays are flying by at a most alarming speed. I don't manage to write a tenth of what I originally intended, which sucks. I'm ashamed to say, but having Mum breathing down my neck doesn't help. I do love her very much, but I don't have a rat's chance to have a daily rhythm of my own. *sighs*

Can't help you with the book - sorry.

And you know, no matter how much you love your mother, you need some time to yourself everyday, or you'll go nuts! After some time to oneself, it's also easier to really focus on the other person for a while ... although of course my perspective is as a parent. *g*

No prob, someone will be able to help some day.

BTW, I've posted the first chapter to the asparagus story Elf-root - to SoA, TFF, FF.Net and [livejournal.com profile] edhellondawards. Have fun!

You did? Oh ...

*runs off to read, giggling*

Oh, yes, I did. Forget the dedication, though, so I'll have to add that later, but I did.

Oh, that doesn't matter.

I just read Chapter 1 and you've really got the hobbits characterized perfectly - well done, Soledad! I look forward to reading more. :-)

I'm glad you liked it, and thanks for the review. So very few people make the effort to toss the author a bone, even if they like the story. Well, in fact, self-declared "literary critics" are a lot more willing to comment. *sighs*

Anyway, the Sale is coming up, soon.

Sure

I'll order it for you and use it to help fill the mythical Box for Wiseheart. It's quite cheap on amazon: all used copies, but some reported as being in good shape, and I've always been happy with the books I've ordered that way. Do you prefer paperback or hardcover? (You can respond via private e-mail for quicker action.)

As long as they aren't highlighted with text markers (which I wish to do for my own, hehehe) and aren't falling apart, I'll take any version. You're a jewel, and I'll be in your dept until the end of the world and beyond. At least six novel-length stories depend on that book, and I'd never be able to translate the semi-scientific explanations back into English.

Heh. And I wrote Cadfael fic. Do you want it as a birthday present? You did introduce me to the good brother, after all.

Update

It's out of print, but I have what is supposed to be a good, clean a copy on the way. One thing: she sent by a mode that says it will arrive in between 3 days and 6 weeks... I'll let you know when I've mailed it, so you can anticipate the package.

Thanks. It's the basis of a long-term project (with definite emphasis on long) so it doesn't really matter when it arrives.

Have told you lately how fantastic you are?

I see [livejournal.com profile] lhun_dweller has already stepped up to the plate - but if it turns out she can't get it for you, just let me know and I'll try!

Thanks. She's very good at such things, though.

By the way, you've written a review about a Beowulf movie some time ago. Can you tell me which Beowulf movie it was? I brought the newest one - the totally digitalized version or whatnot - but I very much doubt that it was the same.

Have you seen the wonderfully anachronistic one with Christopher Lambert in the starring role? I know many people hate it, but I love that one.

The Beowulf movie I reviewed was Beowulf and Grendel, directed by Sturla Gunnarsson. Mouse recommended it to me, and she has good taste! It's much less comic-booky than the recent big-budget Hollywood flick.

And no, I haven't seen the Christopher Lambert one. I guess I'll have to see if I can rent it!

You should. But I must warn you - it's not everyone's cup of tea.

I mistakenly brought that idiotic newest version because I thought it was the one you spoke about - man was I pissed when I saw what I got instead! And in Vienna, too, so that I couldn't even go back and exchange for something else!

I really wish to get my hands on the one you recced. It sounds very interesting.
