I've decided to split the pic material from the first day, or else the entry would have been too long. So, Predjama Castle (which is some 9 kilometres from the Caves) behind the tag.

The steward of the castle (most likely):

Women doing their daily work:

A guard, sleeping on the job (donated by a colleague as I missed the figure):

The spit in the kitchen:

Nice window seats:

The Great Hall and its occupants:

Window seat of the Great Hall:

The ladies of the castle (i.e. Mum & me):

The wine cellar:

The wine press:

The entrance (with Mum):

Outside view:

The catapult:

More outside view:

As interesting as the interior seems, it is the exterior and location that simply blows me away.
Thank you for sharing!

You're welcome. If I see that my ScrapBook can take it, I'll add more pics to each entry and select some beautiful exterior shots for you. :)

Those figures are somewhat creepy. I love the outside shots. It amazes me how they built it into the mountain.

Actually, the greater part of the fortress is under the earth: miles upon miles of narrow tunnels and corridors, through which the inhabitants of the castle could walk through the entire mountain, and, in case of a siege, get in food and whatever they needed from the villages on the other side.

This castle was one of the things I missed during my trip back in the days of the cavemen. Obviously I've missed a great deal. So this is the entrance to Moria, in a way. It's beautiful, and your pics are lovely!

Well, some of them are a little blurry, but I wanted to post my own as far as possible, even though those made by the others were better and sharper. I might add some of those later, though.

Very nice castle, inside and out! A pity we can't live in such an impressive building.

Well, our dwellings might be less impressive, but I think we have a great deal more comfort, which isn't such a bad thing, I deem. *g*
