New bridge

Well, I got the thing glued on today - after nearly 8 hours at school and having crossed the entire town (a really big one, let me tell you) in steadily falling rain. Life is so much fun, eh?

But the bridge sits now. It's a weird feeling. I feel as if my mouth would be unnaturally full, as if the thing would slip off if I don't bite on it strongly, and if the two halves of my face wouldn't be symmetrical. Checking it in the mirror reveals that it's not so, and my jaws close just fine, but it definitely feels weird.

First day at school survived - nearly 300 more to go.

Chin up! Or is that bad, given the bridge? Hope you mouth feels as if it belongs to you - soon!
Cheers :)

You'll get used to the bridge, it's just because it's brand new you feel weird. You'll survive school well, you always do. Not a job I could do.

The sad part is: I still love my job. I might whine and complain sometimes (all right, most of the time), but when I've had just one lesson where the kids cooperated and seemed to enjoy it, I'm on cloud nine again.

It's getting better, thanks. Human behaviour is something completely based on routine, for which we should perhaps be thankful, eh?

Congratulations on your new bridge! I haven't had one, but watching the Beloved's experience with getting several crowns, I imagine that, if the old bridge needed replacing, it was probably not fitting so well, and your teeth weren't lining up as they should. However, that's the feeling that was familiar to you, so the new bridge - not worn down, fitted to your current mouth shape - would feel odd by comparison. Sort of like a new, well-fitted pair of shoes might feel "not right" after wearing an old pair that were stretched out and run down at the heel, even though you know they are better for your feet! Good luck with it! [We'll just ignore school, as it's Saturday.]

Well, something already splittered off of it this morning, so we'll have to go back and let my dentist take a look. As far as I can tell, it came off from the side and there's still enough porcelain on the metal structure to have the bridge work suffuciently, but the surface is a bit raw on that spot, so maybe she needs to put some lacque over it or whatnot. It's really annoying, as it will eat up at least another afternoon - and I already have so little free time left.

I have a couple of RL friends who school teach, and they say the same things; most days you want to kill the kids, but that rare day, when all goes well makes it all worth while. Good luck with the new school year.
