Don't take the silence personally. I don't know what might be happening in Europe and Asia, but it's Labor Day weekend in the US, so most folks had today (Monday) off, and for most folks, that seems to mean one must: - go to the beach - go to a cookout or other party - alcohol is usually involved - take one final vacation out of town before the school year starts - prepare to start a new year of grade school or college/university.
And in Boston, because there are so many colleges and universities, it means that about 3/4 of the leases for apartments changed over this weekend. That, in turn, means that moving trucks, rental vans and cars packed full of worldly goods crowd the streets everywhere. It also means one can sometimes find a wonderful piece of furniture or kitchen equipment or lamp or other handy thing out left out on the street as trash. We have many such "finds" in our flat!
So, the dead zone this weekend is likely due to the fact that everyone in America is either away from home or busy cooking, eating or drinking... except for odd folks like me who just putter around the house and try to catch up on LJ. Hmm... I guess I should go pour myself a glass of wine and figure out what to fix for my work lunches the rest of the week. However, I shall send a loving toast your way and wish that you could be here (via Star Trek transporter - no planes!) to enjoy the evening with me!
You know, considering the current joyful turn of my professional life, I begin to understand why my slightly crazy cousin (the one who looks like Hugo Weaving with a hangover) wants to move to a mostly uninhabited part of the Balear isles.
