Actually, this was my day off, as we weren't all needed to oversee the children with the German colleagues. So, since I've ceased to show myself in a bathing suit years ago (out of consideration towards the rest of mankind), I begged off and went with the bus to Landau instead, which is the next moderately big town.

Alas, the weather wasn't the best, so I couldn't make but a few pics. But the town is pretty, I got some DVDs - the director's cut of the original Stargate movie, which is, although I prefer the series, awesome, the whole second season of Stargate - Atlantis, the second season of Buffy, and the entire Raumpatrouille - The Fantastic Adventures of the Spaceship Orion (one of the silliest sci-fi series ever made on this planet, back in 1964, by the Germans). I also got to eat rhubarb cake, which you don't get here, so it was a succes. I'd have stayed all day, had the wether been better, but a shopping spree in rain, with lots of bags already isn't so much fun as the same in sunshine.

Behind the tag are a few pics of the Marketplace of Landau.

Landau in rain

A pretty church - in two pieces, as I didn't find a position from which I could have got the whole of it on one photo.I really need to learn how to zoom. My camera can do it - only the owner doesn't. *g*

That was Landau. Next stop: Hambach Castle and the village of Hambach. Stay tuned!

You live in that area? I never knew! It's really frustrating. But perhaps I'll get another choice. We make this trip every year - I might be able to participate, if not next year, then the one after.

Those are gorgeous... I love Germany!!

What kind of camera do you have? If I can find an online copy of their manual, I can probably figure it out and help you with that zoom thing. :-)
