Everyday fun

After an incredible heat weave, now we've had strong winds for the last couple of days. The sort that tears away the roofs and uproots century-old trees. In our 10-floor concrete building with its faulty isolation it means that now we are freezing. In July. And while it's still better than 26 degrees in shadow, it's not really what you'd call normal weather.
Going to the fitness studio has an additional advantage (I mean aside from knocking my sorry condition in higher gear). I get to read all the books I didn't want to spend time exclusively with while sitting on the bike and other machines where I don't have to count. So, I've finished The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett in a week, read an incredibly lame Andromeda novel (and I'm glad I did it during exercises, because it would be a true waste of time otherwise) and am now reading an Atlantis novel titled The Chosen. Also not a big deal. Not only concentrates it solely on the lead team (and we all know how I feel about Sheppard, yes?) but also keeps killing off any moderately likeable original characters. I hope to be done with it today.
My computer screen is in its last throes, I'm afraid. The black stripes on the upper and bottom rands seems to have gotten broader. I hope my cousin appears with a new one, soon.

Date: 2007-07-06 07:24 am (UTC)Angst means simply fear in German, so yeah, it's a bit different.

Good for you for getting to the gym so regularly! I haven't been for months now: first it was the Endless Sinus-Ear-Chest Infection, now the hernia makes even walking at a normal pace uncomfortable. I'm looking forward to being able to go swimming again once this is fixed. You're quite right: getting yourself into better shape now will pay off handsomely when you're traveling. If you spot Boromir, you want to be able to chase him up the tower and corner him!

If I manage to chase Boromir up a tower, I'll take a picture for you. ;)
