I've created a farily extensive Cadfael database on my Medieval, horror and fantasy list, formerly known as the Teleki Blanka Yahoo Group.

In the Database section, there are data tables listing all characters that appear in the books, divided into Monks and Nuns, People from Shrewsbury and Surroundings, People from the Outside, Welsh Characters and Saints. There's also a data table that will eventually list all places ever visited by Cadfael (that are in the books, that is), however that's a newly created data table with only a handful of records yet.

In the Files section, there is a Cadfael folder containing the background stuff I've been able to hunt down so far: about popes, bishops, earls, abbots and so on. Also about English and Welsh history, historic places, timelines and the likes.

In the Photos section, there isn't much Cadfael-related stuff, as I don't have pics on my own and didn't want to use shamelessly other people's photos that I've found ont he Net. Just a couple of pics from official sites; the Photos section is member-restricted anyway. I gladly accept donations, though. *g*

Not much in the Links section yet, but I'm working on it, as well as on filling up the blanks in the Database.

Eventually, I'd like to create a Cadfael fanpage. The most useful I've seen so far is Steve C's Cadfael page, but it's more about the TV-series than about the books. I'd like to create something that could be used as a Cadfael lexicon and as a resource for fans and fanfic writers.

Yeah, I know, I'm insane. But a student of mine offered her help in web design and perhaps for the first time in my life I'll manage to do something on my own. It would be such a warm, fuzzy feeling of success. *g*

I'm gonna go and join this group in a moment, looks very useful. :) BTW, on one occasion I put together a chronology of all Cadfael novels and short stories. It's here (http://community.livejournal.com/shrewsburymonk/11393.html), and you can re-post it, or link to it, or whatever, if you want to. :)

Great! I've just approved your membership, so feel free to use all the facilities to your delight.

The chronology is a great idea, I might take you on your generous offer when the fansite is put together - say, around the end of summer or so. :))

Go for it! I found my Earthsea info site a very satisfying project, even though it never got quite finished.

It's a beautiful site, too. :))

I was sooo sad to see the Prydain fansite gone, and that before I could have saved all that wonderful trivia about the characters posted there...((

Thanks! It's always sad to fannish sites go -- I checked through all the author sites linked chez Espresso Recs a few months back, and lost around 20% which had disappeared from the web.

Yep, and it's always the excellent ones that do the vanishing act. Somehow the trash seems to be immune against it. :/

Sounds like an excellent project! Good luck! (And let me know if you need any other titles sent your way?)

That's very gracious of you, thanks, but with the help of [livejournal.com profile] altariel and [livejournal.com profile] rcfinch I've managed to collect the entire series. A great number of them was, surprisingly enough, available in English bookshops here, some of them I ordered through one of those shops, so now I have the whole monastic goodness to my disposal. :))
