I've got a new computer screen. It's big - 50% bigger than the old one - so that everything seems much smaller on it than on the old one. I seriously suspect that it has a different setup, too, sot hat things actually *are* smaller on it, even considering the size difference.

It's a flat screen, probably 100% better than the old one, less electronic poisoning, brighter, sharper, doesn't radiate heat, so it's an improvement in every department - and I hate it. I had the old one for some 8 years (I'm not sure anymore), and I was used to it. I'd never have exchanged it for anything, had it not been dyin on me already, what with hair-thin tears in the housing and a warbling surface an all that. I loved that old screen, it was perfect! :((

In other news, the VCR part of my VCR/DVD-player combo has died on me, gutting two tapes in rapid success. Which is a shitty thing from a player that's not even two years old. I hope they can fix it - I still haven't gotten used to it (do I need to mention how much I loved my old VCR?). I'm not up to the challenge to spend an ungodly amount of money just to get used to an even newer piece.

I hate changes when they are forced upon me!!!

Sorry for the virtual shouting. I needed to get that out of my system.

I hung onto an ooooold computer for ages just because I hate changing things, so I can totally understand how you feel. Then nothing would run finally and I had to get a new one. It was a sad day.

How sad. But you ought to be able to find an adjustment to make the pictures and words bigger, probably one of the neat little buttons at the front of New Screen. Here's to hoping you adjust to it, and it lasts 8 years!

Nah, I'm giving it back. The nerd who's rought it says it can't be adjusted, 'coz this is the ideal whatever. But since the ideal whatever makes my eyes roll out of my skull, the old screen will come back until we find something more suitable.

It's annoying, really. The old screen has shown signs of deteriorating for six months at least. So long has it taken for my neighbour to bring a new one. And now the whole shit starts anew. *is pissed off*

What a pity. I hope you get a suitable new one soon.

I can't help with the VCR, but there ought to be a way to adjust your new computer screen to make the images larger. That, at least, is a fixable problem!

Afraid not. Not according to the geek from the neighbourhood, at least. So we agreed to put my old screen back until we can hunt down another traditional one (= no flat screen) for me, as they still can be found in a smaller size.

Me, too! *guilty* When my old computer screen died, I had the same problem. It took me forever to get used to the changed script. Maybe your new screen changed the screen resolution, that happened to me. I had to use a different screen resolution, but the screen wasn't all that much bigger, so I ended up with smaller script.
