Happy birthday, Ithilwen!
Feb. 4th, 2007 04:57 pmHope it's a good one!:))
Theoretically, it would be the memorial day of my patron saint, from my cloisterly times - had the official hagiology not dissed her and removed her from the list. The bitches! *shakes fist at Church authorities*
Erm... sorry. Being feverish always undermines my good manners... such as they are.
Have a nice day!

Date: 2007-02-05 09:12 pm (UTC)It's not entirely sure that Saint Veronica existed in the first place, despite the fact that she's a prominent figure in a religious exercise in which Catholics follow Christ's way with the cross from Gethsemani to Golgotha. Veronica really means vera icon, "the true picture", because according to legend she handed Christ a cloth to wipe his sweat, and the imprint of Christ's face remained on that cloth afterwards.
Of course, there are many saints - especially early ones - whose existence is at least questionable, but I'm a big champion of this one. Legend or not, while all the apostles ran away to save their own hides, she was supposedly one of the women who stayed with Christ till the bitter end, regardless of the danger for their own person.
