Darkmirrorverse - back to the roots

The thought occurred to me while waiting for the bus - yeah, I get inspiration in the weirderst places, I know.
We know from Trek canon that Mirror!Spock's actions brought the evil Terran Empire of the Mirror Universe to fall. We saw the counterparts of the DS9 and the Voy characters, but no-one from TNG.
Now, what if Mirror!Spock had failed? What would Picard's Enterprise look like - and indeed Mirror!Picard himself - in a Terran Empire that had continued well into the 24th century?
Would Mirror!Picard be a merciless tyrant who runs his ship with an iron fist (plus agony booths and the other niceties of the MU)?
Would Mirror!Beverly be the Captain's Woman like the Marlena Moreau of the MU?
Would Mirror!Riker be a treacherous opportunist, tying to kill his captain in order to take the command chair?
Would Mirror!Tasha be a deadly warrior, perhaps an assassin?
And what about Mirror!Deanna? Would the Betazoids raise to power as the strongest - and most ruthless - telepathic species, now that the Vulcans had to pay the price for Mirror!Spock's actions?
Would Mirror!Geordi, a physically handicapped character, ever get the chance to serve on the Enterprise?
What would become of the Klingons in these very different settings? Would the prevailing of the Terran Empire make them a race of savage slaves? Or perhaps mercenaries?
We never heard the Borg being present in the MU. Who'd be the main enemies of the Empire? Would there be any contact with the Bajorans and/or the Cardassians?
What social structures would exist, what chains of power? What kind of society would the Empire have? Military dictature? Some sort of twisted monarchy? Marquis Picard would surely sound plausible. *g*
It's somewhat insane that a different MU for my very alternate TNG-universe is already taking shape in my head. As if I didn't have enough to do! *shakes head*
Cross-posted to Memory Alpha, in the vain hope that it might wake the almost 200 hibernating members from their slumber.

Date: 2007-01-16 08:33 pm (UTC)In any case, I made a few notes into a notebook reserved for random ideas, and we'll see later. I promised myself not to begin a new story before I finished at least one of my ongoing WIPs, so cyberspace is safe from the dark, violent pr0n I'd write in my current mood.
That's the great thing with creativity - it's always with you, no matter what. The bad thing with creativity is that it fills my head with ideas and three lives wouldn't be enough to write everything. *le sigh*
