Eragon - the Movie???
Nov. 8th, 2006 03:36 pmYou heard me right. They've actually turned Eragon into a frigging movie. I mean, the book isn't bad, especially the first part (I haven't managed to get any longer than page 60 or so in the second one - it's so depressingly big and heavy), but c'me on, a movie?
Or perhaps it's just my envy speaking? *g*

Date: 2006-11-09 05:32 pm (UTC)Anyway, I wanted to tell you that I misspelled the comm name, but you can link to it through my Info page. Love that movie to pieces, it even made me tolerate Antonio Banderas!
And I love, love, love your icon! I write both McKay and Zelenka fic, although I greatly prefer Zelenka (and Kavanagh), and the two of them are just too cute!

Date: 2006-11-11 07:25 pm (UTC)I'll probably go to see the movie, too, and mostly because of the dragon. I like dragons in movies, although very few movie dragons look convincing. I loved the Dragonheart movie, for example, it was a beautiful story, but the dragon was so hopelessly puppet-like I almost imagined to see the strings by which it was moved.
Dungeons and Dragons, on the other hand, was utter crap as movies go, but the dragons were beautiful.
Unfortunately, I never managed to watch the Earthsea miniseries to the end, although I have recorded it, and even kept the record for a while. But when I saw Ged all lily white and with blond locks, I just couldn't continue. So, the abomination of the high priestess of Atuan having a torrid affair with the Kargid king barely registered by me.

Date: 2006-11-11 09:40 pm (UTC)Ever read the, "Dragonriders of Pern," series by Anne McCaffrey? The first book, "Dragonflight" is being made into a movie and I'm hoping it will be as good as the book. It's technically sci-fi with fantasy overtones but I'm hoping the film company can pull it off, especially the dragons. They have to look the right way or all of us hardcore fans will be up in arms;)
"Dragonheart" was good especially with Sean Connery doing the voice but I agree that D & D was a pretty crappy film. I still have yet to see "Reign of Fire" which also has dragons in it but the stills I've seen from it look pretty good.

As for Peter Jackson, I seriously disliked the LOTR movies. Well, I moderately liked the first one, absolutely despised the second one and more or less tolerated the third one. And if he does with Smaug the same thing he did with the Wargs or the oliphaunts, we're probably better off if he doesn't get the chance to mutilate "The Hobbit" as well.
