First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who came to my virtual party two entries ago. I had a great time, and the most comments I ever recieved in the 4 years since I'm on LJ, my previous record being 35.

My special thanks go to [livejournal.com profile] ithilwen, [livejournal.com profile] altariel1, [livejournal.com profile] the_wild_iris, [livejournal.com profile] rcfinch and [livejournal.com profile] glitterboy1, who made the effort to send people to the party. I met a lot of new folks that way and enjoyed the experience immensely.

Further special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] archet for the birthday ficlet (good to know that some of us still love Elladan and Boromir together) and to [livejournal.com profile] lhun_dweller for the Darkangel-trilogy (which has just arrived half an hour ago). You guys are way too generous. :)

Now, I promised to tell you how the real party went, haven't I. Well...

It was actually very lovely. We've made way too much food, as usual - it's a family trait to panic that our guests would starve - and so we're going to eat the leftovers for at least a week, but that's not so bad. It's very good food, so we can live with that.

My student at school were very sweet. One class has volunteered to teach their own lesson, so that I won't have to work on my 50th birthday. Okay, the main reason was that they wanted to have fun, but that was okay. Another class has secretly organized a birthday cake and one of the girls remembered my favourite kind of chocolate, back in summer, and brought me a bar from Germany, keeping it in storage until my birthday. The third class has signed a birthday card, and one of the girs has hand-made a bracelet for me, from glass pearls.

Yesterday, my cousin's wife and her sister have called from Germany, proving the old truth that your best relatives aren't the ones you're related to by blood. They thought of it, even though they are having enough problems with their father, who's very week at the moment. Given that he's beyond 80, that could be dangerous. I hope all will be well with him, he's such a nice old man.

Once again, thanks to everyone!

That was really sweet of your class! So glad to hear you had a lovely birthday. Here's a belated b-day *hugs*! If you travel over to my LJ you'll find your present. I'm afraid I went a bit smutty this year. ;)

Found it, loved it...

They arrived in time? Hurrah!!! [jumps up and down]

I'm so glad you had such a fine birthday - you very much deserved one.

May the year to come be full of more wonderful treats and surprises! And may the next half-century (yes, I'm planning on us being Dirty Very Old Ladies together!) bring joy and riches of the sort that really matter!

Yes, they've trudged in faithfully yesterday, my Precioussesssss...
And I was fortunate that a sane postman brought them, who had the sense to lieve them by our neighbours, so I didn't have to walk to the post office. Which is in the very middle of a huge construction site and thus it's really hard to get there.

Yep, yep, Dirty Very Old Ladies (tm) sounds fun. In another half-century, we might even manage to get together in person. ;)

I still intend to visit that thread..but have been flat out with coal mine fires and bush fires. Happy Happy Birthday too, my dear. You'll get a proper birthday post too, later today.

So nice that your students remembered and treated you, that's very sweet of them! And the no related relatives, yeah, they're good people too. It sounds like overall you had a great day.

Oh, God, not the fires again! How does it happen to you folks every year? Is it because of the draught, or are there idiots who get periodical pyromaniac attacks?

Stay safe!

Lots of things start the bush fires from pyromanics, to lightning strike, to car exhausts giving off sparks and idiots who throw cigarette butts out car windows. This year it is very early, and with drought the grass and shrubs are tinder dry and go up that fast they almost explode. So, it's a combination of things.

Thanks for your concern, and we are safe for now, just awfully smoky!
