Desk drawer, once again
Sep. 1st, 2006 01:58 pmThere will be whining and indignation, so if that bothers you, don't look behind the cut. I won't be held responsible if my self-pity disturbs your sleep.
I posted the coffee scene to FF.Net. It got me four very friendly reviews and the repeated question where the rest of my Zelenka story might be. I answered all those questions privately. That was almost a week ago. Nobody cared to come to
otherworlds_lib and take a look at the actual story.
I posted another Zelenka vignette from the story, in the hope that it would make people want to read more. It got completely ignored. I finally came around to update Ambitions, posting the penultimate chapter to both FF.Net and
otherworlds_lib. I even promoted the update on
kavtolanon, where people are supposed to be interested in Kavanagh stories. Guess what? It got ignored completely. Were I be able to write completely inane smut with highly impossible pairings, I'd probably get gushing reviews. Other people do, so that must be the secret.
I don't know why am I still trying, in any of my frigging fandoms. It's a completey hopeless case.
On a different note, as you see, I survived the trip to Transylvania. Mum and her former classmates were like little girls at a sleepover party, so it's inavoidable that we'll be going next year again. Well, she deserves to have some fun.

Date: 2006-09-02 08:02 am (UTC)Pleased to hear Mum had a good time, you're right she deserves it. Mind you, from Australia just the thought of going to Transylvania is so exotic! Though I'd be on the look out for vampires..

Date: 2006-09-02 08:25 am (UTC)So, you've realized why am I into vampires in the first place, eh? I was born in Transylvania and spent the first nine years of my life there. We lived next to the cemetery, in a house #13, hehehe. I used to play in the empty crypts with my childhood friends.
I hope the stress of your life lessens in the next time - and this is, for a change, a completely selfless hope from my side. *g*

Date: 2006-09-02 09:29 am (UTC)Fancy playing in crypts as a kid! Nothing like a playground the adults wouldn't annoy you in. I admit to a fascination with vampires too, maybe we should have a discussion on these one day?
And thanks, I know your good wishes will help, I know you mean it.

Date: 2006-09-02 09:55 am (UTC)You're right, sometimes I have the feeling that for a great lot of so-called fans every fandom is just an excuse to write mediocre pr0n because they've got the hots for the actors (something that still amazes me considering Atlantis' Sheppard. Or Kirk, for that matter). Ah, well, there's no use to fight about taste. Or the complete lack of it.
I'll be happy to talk about vampires with you any time you want.
And yes, I do mean my good wishes. *hugs*

Date: 2006-09-03 07:27 pm (UTC)Do keep in mind, however, that most of the U.S. was on vacation all or part of the last two weeks, taking advantage of the national holiday Monday, Labor Day, before school starts. Even I took Friday off because a) I've had no real vacation this summer due to work demands and b) experience has taught me that NO ONE would be around at the university if I actually need to get an answer or a signature or whatever. (And I am enjoying my four-day weekend immensely, so far!)
In fact, part of me has been kicking myself a bit for posting my Sue update when I did because I suspect a lot of folks aren't online as much/at all due to the holidays. On the other hand, the folks I *really* write for, my Edhellond pals, will get around to reading it when they have time, and they're the ones who really matter most to me, so I saw no reason to keep them waiting any longer than they have already.
As for Kirk, I'm with you and Jilba: Kirk is not (to quote Crevette) HAWT!

Date: 2006-09-03 08:23 pm (UTC)But to be perfectly honest, nobody is HAWT in the original Trek - not as fangirls understand the word today. Well, except Uhura, of course, but I'm not into my own gender. *g*
