The posting of my gargantual vampire-crossover-AU to [livejournal.com profile] hiddenrealms is making headway, if slowly. Have I mentioned that hand-coding is evil? I've just put up the part in which I once again used the seafood restaurant [livejournal.com profile] cirdan_havens once suggested as the model for Círdan (the character)'s sea palace for the story "Twisted Paths of Face". Yes, the one in which I had Gildor and Elrond do the nasty. But it works for vampires well enough, too.

Also, today I got a parcel from the most generous [livejournal.com profile] larian, with big heaps of Stargate - Atlantis episodes on CD. Am having a wonderful time with them, it's especially funny to watch the episodes of Season 2 on German TV (where I can see everything better), and then re-watch them on my PC, so that I can hear the actual voices of the actors.

Of course, German TV has just reached Ep 2.04 today (which would be Duet), so that I'm way before that in original. I find the Wraith-reversed-to-human types very pretty, actually. Someone was joking on one of the SGA LJ communities that when you reverse Wraith to humans, you actually get Elves, and there is something in that. Only that these reversed types are a lot prettier than the movie Elves ever were. PJ should have borrowed them for the trilogy.

Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] larian, have my sincerest thanks, I'm looking forward for long, leisurely hours spent in the Pegasus Galaxy. *hugs*

Edit: FF.Net had a facelifting - it's really ugly. Gone is the lightbulb - apparently, you're not even supposed to give your imagination free roam anymore. Well, considering what has been overflooding the site for years, it's probably proper. But I'll miss that lightbulb. It was so cute...

I hadn't seen the ff.net redesign. It looks a bit messed up in both Firefox and IE7, though better in IE. Hopefully they'll fix the few bugs. But I liked the lightbulb too...

Yes, the lightbulb showed you right away where you've landed - in the Pit of Voles. *g*

Now it's just another unimaginative website design. Too bad, lately the lightbulb was the only thing still nice on FF.Net. I half-decided not to update a lot of my stories there, even if I manage to continue them. With the ever-changing rules, you never know when some idiot reports you for nonexisting rule violations and gets your entire stuff yanked.

Yucks. The new layout looks so...flat. Like the lightbulb finally fused and exploded...

Oh good! Glad you got them...Don't forget to download episode 2x18 and 3x03 (or maybe 3x02) ...

Here's the link to the post where I explained *why* they were uploaded!

I already have, thank you. :)
But honestly, don't look the reversed Wraith a lot like Lórien Elves - just prettier?

Heh - I might steal him for some Elf in the future. *g*

But those episodes dealing with the reversed Wraith bring up some pretty uncomfortable ethical questions considering our heroes, don't they? I'm all for survival and whatnot, but genocide is still genocide.

I was pondering over similar questions in Birthright 2. I don't know how familiar you are with Andromeda. They have the Nietzscheans - a genetically enhanced race of humans, the homo sapiens invictus, with an overwhelming survival instinct, who think everything is allowed when it enables them to survive.

I had there two Perseids (another alien race) discussing the irony of the fact that - after having fought the Nietzscheans for centuries - they actually had to become like the Nietzscheans in attitude to survive. There's something similar happening with the Atlantis crowd, I think, because, honestly, just how much different are they still from the Wraith, when they're willing and ready to sacrifice another race for their own survival?

Yeah, I know the Wraith have to be stopped from eating everyone, and that our guys ultimately have very little choice, but it still makes one uncomfortable, right?
