Heat wave hit again, so I spent less time at the computer and more time sprawled all over my bed where I can read and write without the need of moving... or letting my poor feet hang.

I made some decent headway with The Shoemaker's Daughter, having now posted the experimental Chapter 5 to "Otherworlds" for viewing - not that there would be much hope for that, but anyway.

Aside from that and watching TV, I re-read some of the "Brother Cadfael Chronicles", and I think I have to change my mind about my favourite part. For a while, it was The Sanctuary Sparrow, because I loved that minstrel boy so bloody much. But I think it's The Pilgrim of Hate now. Not only because Cadfael got to see his son once again (I'm such a hopeless romantic), but also because of the miracle that happened.

The miraculous healing of Rhun is described with such wonderful simpleness, it makes me cry every single time I read it. And I think Rhun is one of the most wonderful characters of the entire series. So selfless, but also so completely without illusions, and yet so open and loving to everyone...

I hope Bestsellers will get me the two remaining books I'm still missing, then I'll start re-reading the entire series once again. There are books you just have to read again and again and again.

Until then, though, I think I'm gonna submerge into Life in a Medieval Castle by Frances and Joseph Gies. I've had that book for some time by now, leafed through it superficially, but it seems to me that it's time to take a closer look.

Heh heh heh. Another one addicted... I'm glad you are enjoying the series so much. It seemed like a natural for you!

Wishing cooler weather for you - I'd send some if we had any to offer. Alas, all we expect in thunderstorms for the next week!

I can never thank you enough for getting me hooked. Those stories have everything I like - they are just perfect! Plus I learn more about medieval life of them than from a library full of boring background tomes. *g*
