The week of woes - Day Eight
Jul. 20th, 2022 06:11 pm( Don't read this if your stomach is weak )
Other than that, I did some crafting in the early hours, when it wasn't too warm yet for higher brain functions. I've started working on the binding of the quiet book, made the book spine and sew in the first page. So far so good, three more pages to go. I also worked a bit on the Christmas felts - the shepherds now all have their staffs. After I stitched on the first sheep head, though, we had to let down all the blinds, otherwise we'd have gone blind from the sunlight, so no more sewing could be done. I refuse to work by lamplight during a bright day. Energy prices and all that.
Now the custom in the cloister - to get up with the sun - begins to make sense. It's probably a leftover from earlier times when sunlight was the only illumination and people worked from sunrise to sunset. Not something for a born night owl like me. *sigh*
