There's never enough time, dammit!
Jul. 4th, 2018 07:57 pmThis day pretty much got away from me. In the morning, we had the usual visit from the chiropodist (? the person who takes care of one's feet when one is too old/fat/stiff to reach one's own toes?), and while I planned to go to the grocer's while she was working on Mum, I got caught up in crafting. To make my own life more complicated, I just have to work on two different explosion boxes at the same time, both of them rather complicated.
This is the one:
And this is the other one:
I've made the basic boxes - 2 and 3 bases, respectively - and started setting the contrasts and stuff. They'll look very different, since I don't have the same papers, decorative stuff, etc. - or don't always like the ones they use. For example, I'm not making the snowy staircase for the first patter and definitely won't decorate with cotton wool. I'll use thin white felt instead.
In any case, the first bout of crafting ate the morning, and then Mum and I had to go to the Official Place because our EU health cards had run off and we needed new ones since we're going to Austria next week. We have extra insurance for the travel, of course, but these cards are very handy, should we need healthcare immediately. (Let's hope we won't!) Official Place was stuffed with people to the bursting point, so it took a while. The trip ate the early afternoon, especially as we had to go to the grocer's afterwards.
By then we were dead on our feet so we fell asleep in front of our respective tellies, pretending to watch something. When I woke up, it was 5 pm already, so I decided to work a bit more on Box 2. That cost me another hour and a half, but I'm quite pleased with the results.
Now I'm finally online, but don't feel like typing up stuff written the day before yesterday. I'll go and continue posting The Book of Mazarbul to AO3 instead. For some reason I forgot to put up anything beyond Chapter 2, and meanwhile I've reached Chapter 14, so I'll have a lot to do with that. Especially as the additional chapters I inserted afterwards haven't been posted to
edhellondawards, so I'll have to do all the hand-coding now. *sigh*
