My Legolas
Jul. 3rd, 2018 07:16 pmThose who know me also know that I'm not a fan of the Peter Jackson films - to put it very mildly. While the visuals are usually stunning, I hate the plot changes and character assassination so widely done in all 6 films. And - with the few exceptions of Sam, Gandalf and Boromir, I absolutely hate the casting chances... although I'm warming up to Galadriel.
So I could never buy Orlando Bloom as Legolas. He might be athletic enough to play an Elf, but his features aren't fine enough for that, and the horrible straw blond wig clashes with his natural colouring like whoa. I especially found the thick black eyebrows and the glass blue eyes off-putting.
Besides, I never imagined Legolas as blond. So, in defiance of the LoTR trilogy, I developed the theory of Wood-Elves having hair that changes its colour with the change of seasons. And now, browsing one of the Weta books (background facts and lots of pictures how they created the visuals for the Hobbit trilogy) I found my perfect Legolas:

In truth, he's just a Mirkwood hunter extra, but for me he is Legolas. Feel free to disagree, but that's my choice and I stick to it. ;))
