Day 4 – Do you have a "muse" character, that speaks to you more than others, or that tries to push their way in, even when the fic isn't about them? Who are they, and why did that character became your muse?

Not really. Although various characters tend to take over the story all the time. See below.

Day 5 –If you have ever had a character try to push their way into a fic, whether your "muse" or not, what did you do about it?

Oh, yes! The very first of such characters was Elladan, when I was writing my first Tolkienfic. I was going to do the Aragorn/Boromir cliché *shudders from the very thought now*, but Elladan marched into the Hall of Fire, caught a glimpse of Boromir and dragged him off to his bed. I've been writing Elladan/Boromir ever since - not that many people would appreciate it.

The other such "invader" character was Minamoto no Yoshitsune. He was supposed to make one brief appearance in the first epsiode of "Travellers' Tales", my Dr. Who/Torchwood crossover series. Before I know what was happening, the entire story was about him and Tosh having an affair and a child together, and he ended up travelling with Tosh, Tomoe and the 9th Doctor aboard the TARDIS.

I usually allow such characters to take over, because it results in a much better story than originally planned.

The description of the chosen planet is based on the excellent book “What if the Moon Didn’t Exist?” by Neil F. Cumins.

There isn't more at the moment, I'm afraid. I just wanted to kick off the entire thing plot-wise.

I've missed the nomination window of the MEFAs. Granted, I haven't written any new Tolkienfic for oh, two years or so? But I tend to have my old stuff nominated, just to be remembered in the fandom until I can pick up writing for it again. Well, I've missed the opportunity this year, and nobody in the yahoo groups where I'm semi-present posted a reminder. Too bad, but it can't be helped now.

Reading Torchwood fic on FF.Net is increasingly nauseating. Save from a few heroes like milady_dragon or aviv_b, the Gwack is rising; and so is Miracle Whip related drivel. And I can't even help even out things - the stuff I write is at the moment strictly episode-related AU, with a lot of original dialogue rewritten and used differently. It would be still enough for some idiot to report me and have my account yanked. I can't risk that. So I can't post my stuff to the Pit of Voles. Well, at least I don't get flames this way, either.

I'm so frigging depressed it isn't even funny. It's strange how little it takes to reach that stage in these days.
