So, obviously writing smut didn't bring hordes of excited readers, either. Not that I am surprised. As I've come to understand some time ago, you either have das gewisse Etwas that attracts readers, or you don't. If you don't, it's no matter what you try, you'll be ignored. Regardless of the fandom.

Despite this elementary truth, I've uploaded two new chapters of "The Shoemaker's Daughter" to Otherworlds. Actually, the second chapter isn't completely finished yet, but I can still add the missing one or two pages afterwards. I wanted it to be available at least somewhere, so that people might comment on it.

Not that it has happened before on that forum, but I'm a hopeless optimist. That's why I'm disappointed so often, I guess, but that can't be helped. One can't change one's deepest nature, and truth be told, I don't even want to try. I'm sick and tired of trying to match people's expectations.

Yes, I'm in a pissy mood. So what?

I wasn't referring to you, little sis, or anyone else on my flist. I was hoping to get interested some regulars in the Atlantis fandom, who seem to like smut a great deal. As I couldn't attract them with my more... moderate stories, I thought I'd give this insane plotbunny free roam.

The basic idea was to use erotica to lure people to a story that contains thought, characterization and even some sort of plot. Obviously, it doesn't work that way. You need to be a Big Name in said fandom - I just don't know how to become a Big Name. I thought reading and commenting other people's work would help to make a familiar name (as I'm always positinve in my comments or don't comment at all), but it doesn't seem to work that way, either.

I know nada about the canon

You don't have to, in this case. I picked these characters more or less randomly, just because fanon seems to think they would have chemistry. Jamie Marham, in particular, has appeared in the series for about thirty seconds or so. But he's cute. *g*

Actually, these characters are so borderline that they aren't even given a first name. I use the fanon versions here.
