Usually, it's the small annoyances that get to you. I finally got the new Norton System Works package installed on my PC - which promptly chose to freeze three - or four - times on me tonight, although it worked completely well in the afternoon. Arrrrrrgh! Plus, my private email isn't working, and the frigging Hotmail is having a bad night again - working or not, changing its mind within the minute.

Also, the Net seems to have slowed down, and apparently, the GAFF board disabled anonymous post during the weeks while I haven't visited. Damn it, and for the first time in ages, I'd have something to add.

Yeah, and school has started, too.

Computers are a pain; if it wasn't for email and the internet, who'd bother with them?

That's too bad about GAFF, but you could always register there if you really want to post.

It's that kind of week. Bad vibes about machinery, or something.

Good luck with all this stuff. I finally began the slow, painful process of wading through the single, huge Inbox file (text format with codes - ick!) that was my old mailbox before the Great Laptop Hiccup of 2005. Amazing how much crap I hadn't deleted. On the other hand, I've found a couple messages of yours that were fun to read over again, so it's not all bad!

Rest up and get yourself ready to be back at school. I'm wishing you some wonderful students!

(Dear Despot Diary: It seems Precioussss-boy made it back to Budapest in time to swap out the disk in her Norton purchase. Maybe he'll get the rest of the job right this time. Hoping she doesn't have any of that dratted canned fish on hand... Bru-ha-ha!!!)

No, I won't. Part of the attraction was that one could remain anonymous. I always used the same name there - not the one I use otherwise on the Net but the same - so anyone who wanted to know my opinions, could follow them through various threads. But I'm not getting forced to register there, just so that I can voice one.

Yeah, I can relate. That's why I always delete everything from my inbox, after I've saved the important messages to my HD. A crashdown can come any time, unfortunately, and then my mailbox would burst, and I won't get the new messages at all, because of it being full.

:/ School starting has to be the worst for a teacher. Students have no idea.

I understand. It IS a pity that anonymous posting has been blocked; I guess the GAFF Powers that Be must have felt it was being abused by trolls, but it did serve a valuable function in letting the infrequent visitors to the site make comments withouth having to join the board.

I've just found out the reason: the Site Guru is making a long journey and doesn't want the board get uncontrollable due to trolls during his/her absence.

Sensible enough. It sounds like once the Site Guru's back from his/her trip, you'll have your GAFF posting access back again.
