... in our flat today. I've finally decided to repurpose an old bed-sheet that had served as the day cover of my bed for many, many years - until recently, when the fabric gave in and developed a long tear right in the middle. For a while I played with the idea of repairing it, but it was meant for a king-sized bed (which I used it folded into a half) and I had to realize that never in my remaining life would I be able to sew such long straight lines. Hell, I can't even sew short straight lines! Thus the decision was made to tear it to pieces and use it for making cherry pit pillows, lavender sachets and the likes. At least tearing in a straight line is easy: you make a small cut with a pair of scissors and tear it; it will go along the natural wave of the fabric.

So I did the tearing. It resulted in 64 (!) small pieces. I think I'll be making those pillows and sachets for years to come. I then washed the pieces - by hand, in the washbasin, because the dratted fabric leaked colour like crazy - and hung them up in the bathroom. The sight is hilarious, as if I'd be preparing things for a bull fight. See for yourself (and try to ignore the state of our 50-year-old, never redecorated bathroom):

Ironing them will take several weeks, I think, but then I can simply put them away and take out as many as I'll need at any given time. I'm planning to make 12 cherry pit pillows this year; we'll see how many I'll actually manage.

In other crafting news I continued mending my textile shopping bag; three quarters of the work are done, so it might be finished this week, despite the ungodly heat weather forecast promises.

Not much else happened. I made tomato soup from tomato juice and canned tomatoes and we had some of the misbegotten banana bread with it. And I managed to have a nice, long nap today, for the first time since the eye news. Perhaps my nerves are calming down a bit.
