Not that I'd gotten far. But I did the grocery shopping in the morning and went to choir practice in the late afternoon. So, there was action, even though choir practice wasn't very satisfying today. And the weather was really nice: crisp, sunny, just the way I like it.

The TEDI Teddy and the TEDI Kitten have left for their new homes. I hope they'll be appreciated. I brought home some free apples from school, so there'll be Apfelküchle tomorrow. Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday anyway, which means a feast day - no meat and a limited amount of futtering. We're beyond the age when it would be mandatory, but Mum insist; and I don't mind. Apfelküchle are yummy.

But seriously, how is it possible that Lent already starts tomorrow? I'm glad I bought some Krapfen today (one for each); that's Faschingstradition and we hadn't had any during the carnival season before.

No day of fasting at our house- we will do oven kebab (new recipe). Hubby and son are not religious, and I...well, let's see...

I wouldn’t really make an issue of it either, but Mum is old-fashioned.

I was listening to some choral singing on YouTube last night. Amazing. So moving and uplifting. It is wonderful that you’re part of a choir.

I’v e been singing in one choir or another my entire life, starting in 5th grade. I’d miss it terribly if I couldn’t do it anymore, even though our choir isn’t a particularly flashy one. If I had the time I would join the senior Gregorian choir in the neighbourhood, too, but their practices clash with Mum’s daily schedule. 🙁

Amazing. I’ve never been able to carry a tune.

One of these years I will remember it's Pancake (Shrove) Tuesday. I have to buy the ready made ones, as I have no traditional cooker. As someone who came to Christianity late in life, I never grew up with these observances.

Honestly, I find most of them rather pointless, too. And Apfelküchle are basically thinly sliced apples in pancake batter, so we are a day late with them, but who cares?

We don't have any sort of Carnival associated with Shrove Tuesday — just the pancakes. And I think your Krapfen look nicer!
