So, I paid the Vodafone One customer service a visit. The friendly young man listened to me compassionately, but there was nothing he could do. Apparently, even if I had kept my outdated package, RTL would have been taken out eventually from there, too. Ah, well. Annoying, but at least we can watch old episodes on YouTube. I still wish we had the channel, but clearly, this is another small thing that has been taken from us permanently.

On the win side, I visited the craft shop, too, which is next door to the customer service. I bought two packages of tiny little golden bells, so the garish, politically incorrect elephant plushie might get its even more garish decoration, after all. The nervous breakdown of any parents isn't my problem, now is it? *insert evil grin*

In the back of the craft shop there is another, smaller shop (independent from them, just sharing space), where I got me some very pretty grey embroidery thread, in three different shades of grey (fifty would have been the overkill, right?), plus a spool of beautiful silver one. Which I absolutely didn't need but simply couldn't resist. Even though sewing with metallic thread is a real pain. Clearly, I'm a glutton for punishment.

After that, I took the tram to the Savoy Park (mini) shopping centre, where I went to the post office to send the support money for the charities we are affiliated with (well, seven of them, the eighth hasn't sent their cheque yet) and to do the grocery shopping. Needless to say that I couldn't resist visiting the local TEDI, either, and got away with another candle to decorate and another sewing kit, this time a cat. So, the TEDI Teddy is about to get a little kitty sister. Why do I keep buying these things when I have enough unfinished projects to last the rest of my life is beyond me.

Complete with cut-out parts, perforated seams and a big, dull plastic needle, so that they are safe for children, too.

Oh dear, now I will have some complementary activity for Cassian, who loves cats. BTW- that garish elephant would have been perfect for granddaughter! Did you get him at Tedi, too?

Losing small comforts is always depressing. But it can’t be helped.

I'm sorry about the RTL situation.

I've always been a little envious of people who were good at crafts. I have a neurological hand eye coordination issue so I'm terrible at them. i can't even thread a needle.

Oh, that is unfortunate. Although the threading the needle part is getting harder with each passing year for me, too.

Honestly, I didn't expect him to look this garish. The tiny plastic toy elephant I've had since age 4 or so looks so lovely, and I took his garments as template. They clearly didn't translate well to the ten times bigger, felt version.

I'll post a pic as soon as there'll be enough natural light to take a decent pic, I promise.

Sometimes is just nice to pick up a project that you know has all the pieces you need. No last minute runs to collect that one thread you forgot. I discovered that the best way to deal with metallic thread is to couch it. (Lay on top of fabric and catch down with fine ordinary thread.)

The problem is, I do paper embroidery with the metallic thread, and your method won't work on that.

Somehow 'advances' in anything tech-related always seems to leave some of disadvantaged.

Like, since we got a new router the Alexa (a gift some years ago from our daughter) doesn't work β€” she tries to connect to the old router, and we cannot find any way online to give her the information to connect to the new one 'You need the app, Mum,' I was told by the daughter. Except that, although she has it on her phone, when I tried to put it on mine I got a message to say it was not available in my country...

A nice visit to the craft store was definitely needed to help restore your calm I reckon. I have an awful lot of projects not only unfinished, but some not even started β€” just a bag full of the materials.

Yeah, I also have heaps of craft supplies I haven't gotten around to actually use yet. 😞
