I've posted the last two chapters to Birthright2 - The Gathering. They are here:

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2155112/18/

and here:

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2155112/19/

I also dared to post the first 4 parts of Birthright 3 - The Lady of the Lake, starting here:

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2447446/1/

The new process of posting a new story is downright insulting. Not only have you to individually and officially agree to their allmighty rules before posting every new story, you also have to repeat the process after 3 days, to be able to post another new story. This is getting ridiculous. Not to mention that all those police state methods won't keep the fanbrats from violating any rules they want and save the rule-abiding, responsible writers from getting tosses out due to false accusations by irate readers.

I'm officially pissed now. If only the site weren't so convenient. Even with the new, thrice-as-complicated-as-before posting methods.

You're kidding, right?

Does Xing actually think this will help keep the badfic writers off his site? *headdesk* They don't read the rules anyway! They'll just click "yes" to whatever agreement the site requires and then post the same rule-breaking drivel they always do!

I don't know if you noticed but the postings to the site have really gone down since all of these changes, but you're right it doesn't stop the fanpoodle postings. I don't think they care about keeping badfic writers off the site, heck they don't even care about enforcing their own rules. I've seen numerous postings of songfics, the very form that started all the uproar, continue to be blithely posted with no censure.

I've also seen several of my favorite authors pulling down their work and closing their accounts. It's really a sad and unneccessary development on x-ing & crews part.

I've stopped posting there too since the songfic/lyrics disaster so it makes me furious to hear that people are still posting them. The site really has gone to pot.

Xing needs his head looking at IMHO!

And the sad fact is, everyone can falsely report you, and they'll yank your work and your account, without checking first.

I haven't been to ff.net in two weeks or so (because I'm fairly sure it was one of their pop-up ads that infested my work PC with a nasty piece of malware), and the last time I did go, it was to look at a specific story - so I've not seen the "Just In" section for a while. But I'll believe you when you say the posting rate's gone way down; the site's becoming seriously aggravating. The formatting mess alone is reason enough for a lot of people to stay away!

No, I'm most certainly not kidding! They register somewhere that you've, indeed, agreed to the rules, and if you want to ever post a new story again, you need to repeat it in 3 days.

It's getting more and more similar to communist literature control - without the literature part, in most cases. For someone who's grown up behind the iron curtain (like me) it certainly awakens unpleasant reminiscences.

I suspect a lot of people are simply going to give up on ff.net; it's beginning to reach a critical level of annoyance. It's too bad, really; it was a nice site once.
