The best laid plans of meeces and men and all that...

In other words: I didn't go to the Christmas fair today. When I got up at my usual time (way too early if you ask me), I looked out of the window - and couldn't see the other side of the street due to the thick fog. So I decided to go back to bed and slept almost an hour longer than usual.

We went through our morning routine with some delay, and then I slept until breakfast. After breakfast I slept again for roughly two hours or so. Clearly, yesterday's cleaning frenzy did have an aftermath. Despite all that sleeping (due to which I had completely forgotten we had a short practice with the children's choir today) I'm still sleepy like whoa!

There was no need to cook - I made the veggie soup and the cauliflower strudel yesterday, after the cleaning - so I solved a few crossword puzzles, watched a bit of crap telly... and did basically nothing. But that's okay. We have a rather eventful week before us, with two additional choir practices, a visit from the hairdresser (for Mum), the concert on Saturday and a visit from my eldest cousin and his son on Sunday. So, a lazy day was a real life-saver today.

Fog? Oh great ...

Good reason not to leave the house!

Wow, so much fog.
I’m taking inspiration from you and doing a cauliflower something today. Cauliflower soup? Roasted cauliflower? Roasted cauliflower soup? I won’t know until I have that cauliflower on my chopping board.

It was very easy. I followed this recipe https://www.coles.com.au/recipes-inspiration/recipes/roasted-cauliflower-dahl?srsltid=AfmBOorIH4QFNBRwo0ipPxoSBu2Iu_lyXFyQ6AYDICgzvwzc1T1m1gjX
I sprinkled the cauliflower with paprika and nutmeg and doubled the roasting cauliflower time so it was slightly caramelised.
Instead of tikka masala, I fried some curry spices with ginger. No onion. Added some finely chopped leek and red capsicum and then a little coconut milk before the veggie stock. I used frozen green beans. I didn’t add the roasted cauliflower until then very end. I added fresh lemon juice to brighten it because it just didn’t taste right. That did the trick!
I liked making this because I could lie down between the roasting and the soup simmering. Some days I need to lie down a lot.

Sometimes it's best to just surrender to the 'lazy'.

You clearly needed that sleep! I would have been put off by the fog too...

Sometimes I have the feeling that all the sleep in the world wouldn't be enough. *sigh*

Oh no, cauliflower again...
That fog must have been impressing. I love fog- it dampens all sounds. But I do not love to walk through that veil of dampness...

I'm sorry, but we both love cauliflower.

And unfortunately, fog doesn't dampen all sounds. For example, it doesn't help when somewhere in our ten-storey concrete building someone is drilling holes in their walls. Which happens on the daily basis. And concrete is a damn good noise conduit...

I'm sorry you couldn't go to the Christmas fair. But it sounds like a relaxing day, so that's good.
