An old Star Trek joke
Oct. 26th, 2025 09:34 pmQ: How many Vulcans are needed to change a lightbulb?
A: Two. One who changes the lightbulb and one who asks what's so funny about it.
Q: How many Romulans are needed to change a lightbulb?
A: 145. One who changes the lightbulb and 144 to restore the honour of the ship.
Me, I managed to change the lightbulb in the bathroom alone. Go me!
It's funny with these new, environment-friendly, energy-saving bulbs. The old ones simply burned out and went dark. These new ones loose luminosity gradually until all they can produce is a dim glow. Last night the bathroom had the atmosphere of some horror movie. *g*
Other than saving the honour of our ship, I went to Lidl today and actually found some Belbake orange peels. The lemon peels were already sold out for the time being; I hope they'll restock eventually because I need these things, big time. They are only available around Christmas (apparently, the end of October counts as pre-Christmas time now), but I use them all year long for baking. So, fingers crossed for the restocking.
We also had laundry day, postponed from yesterday when we weren't at home. Fortunately, I didn't need to cook: H. had packed us a good chunk of her yummy cheesecake, which we ate after a lunch of instant soup and sandwiches with our coffee. I made the labels for the ginger syrup bottles and for the spicy vinegar; all I'll have to do is to glue them on, once the vinegar has rested four weeks and is transferred to the bottles.
Other than that I spent the rest of the day lazing around, watching stupid YouTube vids and watching some telly. Oh, and I started emptying the balcony, as tomorrow there will be cleaning.

Date: 2025-10-28 10:58 pm (UTC)I have one of those bulbs in the light fixture outside my front door. For the past half year, it has been on "low" light. It looks really eerie, great for upcoming Halloween, I guess. It is a pain to change, so I've crossed it off the list until it is completely dead.
In other news, hubby is still status quo. I've had the cat-scan and am still on oxygen (rats), pending the results of taking steroids and possibly a new inhaler, which I don't really want to do, but I guess I should try. My son, Ryan, just got back from a work conference in Washington, D.C. He saw the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Mount Vernon (George Washington's home), and other such landmarks. He did NOT get to see the White House, as the President I did not vote for and also do not care for, just destroyed all of the East wing of the structure and most of the surrounding garden to build his monstrosity of a ballroom.
Ryan and his girlfriend have bought a house, or rather a lot, the house needs to be built, but will be finished (maybe) in December. Then, dear hubby and I will be empty nesters. I have mixed feelings about that, sigh, but it is past time for him to be on his own.
I see you are heavily into Christmas fair crafting once again. The pear jam looks and sounds yummy, so does all the candy. I wish you well with it. Hard to believe it is almost that time of year. Wish you both the best.
