More accomplishments
Oct. 24th, 2025 07:40 pmI made the spiced vinegar for the fair today. Three different flavours: one with tarragon and rosemary, one with dill and a fancy one specifically for steamed red cabbage seasoned with coriander seed, piment, cloves, ginger and pepper. They are sitting nicely in their closed jars on the balcony and will do so for the next four weeks. Then I'll transfer them into 20ml flat bottles. I hope they'll do what they are supposed to do. *fingers crossed*
I did a short food run in the morning, mostly to buy spices and apple vinegar for my project. And milk, of which we never seem to have enough. *g* Our local Aldi had some yummy Butterspekulatius, supposedly for a reduced price (although the difference was less than a single Eurocent), so I bought two boxes. And I'll probably buy more in the future. We just love this particular brand of Spekulatius, and I can't bake the things myself.
Since I needed more ginger for the spiced vinegar, I also made another 100ml flask of ginger syrup. It didn't feel right to leave that unexpectedly discovered bottle empty. Yeah, I know, I'm an idiot. So much fuss about one single bottle. But it turned out well, and I'm happy with it. In the next couple of days I'll have to make more pretty labels, both for the vinegar and the ginger syrup.
That was another item ticked off my making-for-the-fair list. The only things left are some more Christmas candy. I'll try to make them before the month ends; November is
