Again. I woke up with the firm decision not to go. I don't feel up to spending two hours practicing pieces I don't like and seething about favouritism. So I stayed home, did a tiny bit of crafting on my felt book project and took a nice, long nap.

That was the afternoon. In the morning I went grocery shopping, spending a sh*tload of money that always lifts my spirits. Not that I'd have bought anything unnecessary; well, except the four cans of iced coffee in three different tastes. Everything else was just normal, everyday food stuff. But hunting them down for a reduced price always gives me the proud feeling of accomplishment. *g*

Mum had her weekly physiotherapy session. The weather remains unusually cool; fortunately, the heating has started. Just enough to keep the temperature pleasant in the flat when turned up fully, but it's enough.

We ate the last remains of the cake today. Tomorrow, I'm going to make cauliflower Strudel ([livejournal.com profile] noadvertising, cover your eyes), with ham, creme freche and grated cheese. That will serve us for another two days; fortunately, I bought a big heap of Tütensuppe at Aldi today, which always makes cooking much easier. I'm not a soup fan, but Mum loves soup, all kinds of soup, so I like to keep sources in the house. Although I might make potato soup from scratch tomorrow if I can bring up the enthusiasm. We'll see.

Potato soup got postponed. Instead, I made simple veggie soup to put the boiling water of cauliflower to good use. Losing all that flavour would have been criminal waste.

Having a nap instead of going somewhere you didn't really want to go always doubles the benefit :)

Out of experimental reasons it was necessary to buy three different flavours, I am quite sure.

Even if I'm already familiar with all three flavours. 😋

Our talk of cake the other day remained with me, so today I purchased a little box of individual cake slices. At least when there's only five little pieces I am less inclined to binge.

Your description today, of bargain hunting, provided me with the strange image of you gathering up your stone axe and wicker basket, before falling into full Stone Age 'hunter-gatherer' mode to go kill a brontosaur and collect some berries.

Yes. My imagination is a strange place.

Don't worry! I'm a hunter and gatherer at the heart of my hearts, so your comparison is actually fitting. *g*

As for your cake, individual slices make it possible to have one slice a day, which doesn't count as binge.

Husband mine would love your approach to food stuff hunting, because he loves to do the same. Will sit and study leaflets and write lists he will not find the next day...

That is exactly what I do! I guess, the fact that we were so piss poor when I was a child has coloured my view on shopping forever. (Unless it comes to craft supplies.)

It's a shame that choir no longer brings you pleasure — and I can quite understand why. Is there another choir you could join — the sort who get together just for the pleasure of singing? We have a couple like that even in just our area.
