I spent a sinful amount of money on English books today - they're frigging expensive over here, but I like to read in English, and it's good for my meagre vocabulary, too.

So, I bought Arabian Nights, a selection of 1001 Nights in the Penguin Classic edition; Childhood's End by A.C. Clarke, a book I've been looking for for years and the boxed edition of the Icewind Dale Trilogy by R. Salvatore. I've never read anything from Forgotten Realms before, so it will be an interesting experience. I'm curions why the GAFFers seem to hate this author so much.

But first, I still have to read the first two volumes of the Prydain Chronicles Gemma so graciously sent me. I just wish my attention span weren't so lousy. It's too hot and I'm too tired, most of the time.

I think I might go to see Kingdom of Heaven, as soon as school finally ends. I liked the teasers in German TV. Orlando actually looks great. I think he'd have made a gorgeous Faramir. Too bad PJ didn't cast him for the role he originally applied for. Sorry, David Wenham fans.

Kingdom of Heaven isn't bad. Orlando does a reasonably good job in the lead role, and the supporting cast includes some terrific performances.

Have fun with the Pyrdain Chronicles! I haven't read those in a very long time, but i do remember enjoying them.

I have read the Prydain Chronicles repeatedly, but only in German translation. Now that I got the first two volumes, I'm looking forward to read the original English version.

Oh yes, Orlando does do a decent job, and I loved Jeremy Irons..and of course, Marton!

Ever thought of buying on Amazon? We save alot on books buying off Amazon. com, but you must buy several at a time for the postage to be worth while.

Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't accept our national currency, and it'll be as far as 2008 until we switch to the Euro.

Yeah, I know. Two years ago, Snicklepop gifted a ยง50.- account on me. It got me the boxed edition of the Kindred: The Embraced series, the best vampire show ever made, plus Tolkien's letters.

Ah, well, only 3 more years until we get the Euro.
