Grapefruits are cursed
Sep. 4th, 2025 09:21 pmApparently. I used a different recipe, and yet the results are the same as two years ago: something between jelly and syrup. At least the... thing is properly pink this time. I'm going to sell it as jelly, and if someone disagrees, well, that's their problem.
The lost battle against grapefruit... whatever took all morning. At least I didn't have to cook today - that would have been too much. Afterwards, I wrote the labels for the little jars (containing the misinformation that this is jelly), worked a little bit on my pillow cases (at least one phase is completed and I could start seaming them with blanket stitch) and watched telly and inane YouTube videos, respectively, in the rest of the time. I really should leave off those videos, I waste too much time on them, but can't at the moment. *sigh*
In the evening, I had a nice, long phone chat with my friend Evie, and with that the day was over. I'll try to be more useful tomorrow.
Update:
I've just checked on the jars, and after having spent a couple of hours in the fridge, the gelatine suddenly realized that its job was to thicken the stuff and did so. Now to find a nice, cool place for the jars, so that the jelly won't liquify again...

Date: 2025-09-05 01:33 pm (UTC)I used to love grapefruit. Your jelly sounds divine, but alas, I wouldn't be able to sample it. When I was put on blood pressure meds the doctor told me that I'd have to stop eating grapefruit and drinking grapefruit juice, which I used to do daily. But it interferes with the workings of the medication, so I had to give it up.
Like you I also waste too much time watching Youtube videos although many are very entertaining. :) At the moment I have been watching health advice videos for seniors, trying to avoid the obvious AI ones.

Date: 2025-09-05 06:00 pm (UTC)I keep watching these inane stories where family wrongs people but in the end they win over the abusive family members and then karma does the rest. I know it doesn't work that way in real life β my own family is the best example for that β but I like it that in these stupid, repetitive, formulaic stories it does.
As someone (I think it was Bilbo Baggins in LotR) once said: every story should have a happy ending.
