Just enough for the balcony to fold. I found an inch of water in the plastic bin I keep under the leaky place. Fortunately, the strategically placed tinfoil and sponges directed the water straight into the bin. Speak of small mercies.

The rain didn't help with the temperatures. Now it's hot and stuffy. "Just" 32 degrees, but still hard to breathe.

The renovation guys didn't manage to actually lay the new PVC floor last night. They don't work on the weekends, so we'll have to keep maneouvring the slippery surface. Apparently, they haven't finished on the 8th floor yet, and they are coming down from the 10th, level by level. We live on the 2nd floor. You do the maths. The original deadline was on July 31, BTW.

We had laundry day. And I moved a lot of stuff from the balcony to my study/craft room, so that I can clean the balcony tomorrow. Just the balcony. It would be easier to do the living room and the other two little chambers, too, but I just can't. Not by these temperatures. At least Mum reached the guy who's been cleaning our wall-to-wall carpets once a year, and he promised to come somewhen in mid-August. Of course, that means we'll have to rearrange every single room with a wall-to-wall carpet, but that's routine.

It also means that we'll get to wash the lace curtains; the same guy puts them back on, which neither of us can do. Mum because she can no longer use both arms properly and I because I can't climb ladders. And since we're at it already, the windows will have to be cleaned, too. But I can do that. I've bought a tool with extending length, so I won't have to climb any ladders. I tried it with the kitchen window last week and it worked.

It doesn't mean that I'd be looking forward to the whole ordeal, though.

Lunch was an easy affair. I made a carrot soup and we ate the two-day-old savoury buns I had bought yesterday at the corner café for half-price. And coffee and ice cream - the life-saving lunch ingredients in these days.

In the morning I finally washed my hair again, wrote a little bit and even did a tiny bit of crafting, still working on the dollhouse quiet books. So the day wasn't a complete waste. I then talked on the phone with two friends and got a text message for a third one I tried to call but didn't reach. Social life is such a nice thing.

Tomorrow I'll dig out the sandwich maker. I specifically bought sliced toast bread yesterday, plus a bag of mixed salad. I foresee soup, sandwiches and salad for several upcoming lunches. And ice cream and coffee, of course.

I had bought sliced toast bread a few days ago, too. Now guess what went straight into the organic waste bin this morning? The very mouldy sliced toast bread. No wonder, everything here is wet and icky...

I've learned the hard way to put the bread into the fridge by this weather. The problem is, the fridge isn't made of rubber.

Renovations never seem to go as planned - sigh. We've seen a lot of rain, a tropical depression, and maybe another on the way. But that possibility is later in the week, tomorrow, the new heat wave begins.

I don't envy you the cleaning tasks. I've had to give up here, just too much that I cannot do. Oh, and the sitter that I hired to take care of my husband quit today, so his personal care is back in my hands.

I am still on oxygen and beginning to wonder when or if I will be able to go without it. I had to cancel my doctor appointment scheduled for this month and could not get another one until August, so not sure how much my lungs have healed from the pneumonia.

Glad to see you are progressing with your crafting and writing, so nice to feel accomplished. Hope both you and your Mum continue to do well in spite of the heat and other problems.

Oh, love, if it doesn't rain it pours, doesn't it? So sorry to hear that your problems have just doubled with the sitter quitting. It's so hard to find help in these days, no matter what kind of help one would need. *hugs*

I keep you in my thoughts and pray that your health improves, soon!

I keep looking at the mould on my living room window frame. Yes. Just looking.

Perhaps you should stare at it more threateningly. Who knows, it might get frightened and go away?
