When I woke up around 6am, it was 16 degrees and sunshine. No, really. I went back to sleep. When I got up at 8am, it was 18 degrees and rain. That decided it - I postponed the grocery run and decided to do the last leg of the cleaning. I wasn't as thorough as usually, very few pieces of furniture were actually moved (only the stuffed chairs), but I did go around with the vacuum cleaner to remove as much dust from our wall-to-wall carpets (=Teppichböden) as humanly possible. In just four room, it took me about an hour and a half, after which I collapsed for a short while and did some writing.

Today I also had to cook, so I made an easy vegetable dish (Erbsen und Möhren als Gemüse) and baked up some more of the feta and spinach puff pastry parcels (look at the alliteration!!!) for lunch. I also made Tütensuppe, so it was a fairly complete midday meal - which we ate around 4pm, when the physiotherapist lady left. No-one can accuse us of being overly conventional with out meal times.

As I used canned peas for the veggie dish, I now have another empty (and thoroughly scrubbed) can that I can turn into a pencil holder. It's going to be a Santa again, as I still have enough red and white felt left to make one. I already cut out the main parts, but sewing and glueing will have to wait. I'm too drained for one day.

In the morning I also talked to my friend Evie; there was quite the thunderstorm yesterday, and where she lives is frequently hit by those. Fortunately, it didn't happen this time, which was a relief.

So, grocery run has been postponed for tomorrow, even if there will be rain. We need yogurt and milk and fruit and several other things I'll have to write down or else I'll forget them. This tired old brain definitely needs its little helpers in the form of shopping lists.

I'm so glad I don't have carpet anymore, the flat had it when I moved here but I've replaced it all.

Sorry to see you guys still struggling with the heat. Love the pencil holders! Good to see your Mum is improving, if slowly.

As for me, I am still on oxygen, though feeling better, and still have the sitter helping with my husband. I spend my days trying to clean the house, slow going, and my nights watching Chinese dramas with my "support" cat. On another note, DH (Dear Husband) splurged and bought himself a motorized wheelchair. Unfortunately, he is not a good driver and bangs it into the walls and furniture. The chair beeps when it backs up and also when he presses the wrong key on the keypad, so it is quite noisy here during the day ... beep, beep, beep, beep. beep beep. Drives the rest of us crazy! At least, I am hard of hearing, so the beeps are only a slight annoyance, but the sitter and Ryan hear them at full volume, poor souls. Ryan says our house is starting to look like a medical center, what with the hospital bed, wheelchairs, and oxygen machines. Hopefully, the oxygen machines will be gone soon. C'est la vie.

One of the things I love about shopping online, aside from having it delivered to my door, is that the supermarket app. stores those items you buy regularly. No need for shopping list. I just run through the list of favourites and add any oddities at the end.

Grocery runs (drives) are so boring, at least for me. Hubby seems to like them, you will find him studying the leaflets every morning. In case i have to decide between grocery shopping and housework I will gladly take the second.
