Weather forecast promised 30-32 degrees for the afternoon, so Mum and I decided to do our daily walk in the morning. I parked her on the playground next to our building, where she could amuse herself by watching the toddlers, while I went to Lidl for a quick grocery shopping. It was quick... but rather thorough, since I had to fill up a mostly empty fridge. Even so, I forgot a couple of things; I'm always a bit nervous when I leave Mum alone outside the house. But everything went well, and we made it home all right, despite the fact that all her joints are hurting like whoa at the moment. Small wonder; apparently, we can look forward to three days of rain, perhaps even storms. With our balcony, that's really bad news. *sigh*

But I did finish the last pincushion, and even started the next phase of the project. That phase consists of cutting out and sewing together double layers of felt circles; when that's done, I'll have to sew on the buttons that will go into the small sewing kits. At least 6 buttons per piece, and I have 12 pieces. Yes, I know. I'm officially insane.

We also had laundry day today, complete with the changing of beds. At least I didn't have to cook today; leftover soup and broccoli Strudel took care of that. Tomorrow is another matter; I'm considering frying some of the chicken wings that are residing in the freezer. Since the freezer needs to be thawed out once again. Joy, joy, joy - NOT!

My main concern is the weather, though; because of the leaky balcony. Mum phoned to our janitor who promised to call the insulation guys again. We'll see what happens - and when.

Weather forecast for the first half of May is horrible. Not unexpected, since May was always the one and only month which turned out slightly too cool the last years! I really hope that your balcony will pull itself together and keep the rain out!

The rain has already arrived here — we've been having quite the deluge.

Considering all the years you dealt with that leak, they should give you a new apartment. Is your balcony the only one that leaks in the whole building? I mean, geez, one would think somebody should be able to figure out how to fix it.

They can't give us a new apartment, since we all own our apartments and thus are responsible for everything that happens to them. But yeah, it would be nice if someone could finally fix the balcony.

That is bad news about the rain/balcony. I hope it's not too bad. Your mention of chicken has just reminded me that I need to go fill the slow cooker, or dinner tonight will be beef burger and broccoli...again.

I'm just so sick and tired of living in fear every time it rains!

Oh dear Lord — the balcony sage must run to three volumes by now — surely they should have found an answer by now? In fact surely it should have been made totally leak-proof as the climax to a slim first volume!

It used to be leak-proof when we first had the windows built in. My current theory is that — since our side of the house gets an awful lot of harsh sunlight most of the day — the original glue they had set the side window in has become porous in the recent decade or so. I might be wrong, of course.

That sounds like a very plausible theory to me.
