Craftiness

Today was busy. And crafty. Not a bad thing per se, but I hadn't slept well, so my head felt as if it had been full of cotton wool all day. But such things can't stop me, naturally. *g*

I set aside the unfinished pincushions because, frankly, I was bored by them to the death, and decided to make these penguin pencil holders instead. Aren't they adorable? I still might have to do something about the upper rand, perhaps trimming it a bit, but otherwise I'm very proud of the outcome. The sticking-out wings are a new addition to the design; I believe, though, they'd have looked even cuter with a little heart in the place of their beaks, like here. Ah, well, there's always a next time; we eat lots of canned veggies, after all.

Between the two penguins I also had kitchen duty. I made broccoli Strudel because there are very few easier things when one had ready-made puff pastry, blanched veggies in the freezer and leftover grated cheese. Plus, there's always the boiling water of the veggies that can be turned into an improvised soup. Yum.

After lunch we went for a short walk; Mum's bad knee is acting up, so no longer trips were possible - and besides, everything was closed today, it being a bank holiday. Still, at least we were out in the sunshine and the fresh air, and that's worth something, too.

Coming back, I half-solved a few crossword puzzles (cotton wool in the head isn't good for that sort of thing), and then called Erna, our art teacher, and we chatted for a considerable time. Then we watched the 2023 season of the GBBO and some "Salvage Hunters" re-runs - and how on Earth is it evening again?

Love the penguins! The weather is gorgeous here, too. We have such a short spring before the heat of summer sets in, so I am enjoying it while I can.

My husband just finished two weeks of home therapy and will start outpatient physical and occupational therapy at a nearby rehabilitation center. He is glad to begin more intensive treatment, and luckily, they provide wheelchair transport. The only catch is that sessions begin at 8:00 AM, so he must be dressed and ready for the van pickup by 7:00 AM. That means I must be up around 5:30 AM to get him prepared — sigh. I will miss my sleep.

Hope your Mum's knee is better soon so you can enjoy more walks together.

Alas, the nature of the knee problem is such that it will only gradually worsen, I'm afraid. but Mum is a tough cookie, she tries to make the best out of the situation.

I hope the treatment will help with your husband's condition.

Those penguins are really lovely! And it looks as if you have sorted out the uploading to Pinterest, too — hurrah!

Thanks! The uploading wasn’t the problem, though. It is the fact that one can no longer embed pictures from Pinterest to LJ. That is way I have to simply link to them now.

I haven't tried for a while — I used to just do it with the HTML coding which I would guess is what you used, having been here, like me, for a long time!

I really liked the embedding feature as I could make my pictures visible right in the entry. No such luck anymore. :(

Those pencil holders are really cute! What a shame that your mum's knee does act up, when there's such a fine weather! Next cold wave is already forming up and will hit on Monday...

Es ist ein Verschleiß von Knorpel in ihrem Knie, es gibt also wenig Hoffnung daß es better wird. :(

I always like to hang out and watch them at the zoo.
