... concerning my Easter bread, that is. In the end I chose an old, well-liked recipe that isn't too sweet. I've got enough cookies for sweet. Here is the recipe for those who're interested and can at least read German:

I'm still pissed off at Pinterest that it no longer allows to embed pictures from there to here. I'd prefer to show the real things in my entries. But that can't be helped at the moment. *is irritated*

All in all, it was a quiet day. I made the asparagus Strudel - and promptly forgot to add the grated cheese to the filling. In the end, we ate it with sprinkling the cheese on the top after it came out of the oven. It was edible, but not the same taste as it should have been, of course.

Weather went crazy again: after a somewhat rainy day, now we had 10-12 degrees more than yesterday. Mum's joints were aching something fierce, but - real trooper that she is - she insisted on making a walk nonetheless. Tomorrow we'll try to reach our corner café. We haven't been there for half a year or so, I hope we can do it again.

I managed to write a bit today again. Still haven't found the right sentences to finish the ongoing chapter, but I hope I will get there, soon.

This recipe comes from the eastern part of our country. Here in the western part we have Kartoffeln, Schnapsgläschen and Hefe instead of Germ! This part of the country has been a part of Bavaria for a long time. Though I think that Stamperl is used in Bavaria, too!

I actually am German. 😁😁😁
But I've only ever heard the term Germ in Germknödel, not for Hefe per se.

The weather is swinging wildly here too. One day I can get away with just turning the heating on for an hour. The next day I have to turn it on for several hours, twice.

Asparagus strudel without cheese- oh my God! Is there a recipe for it?

Theoretically, you'd need half a kilo pre-cooked asparagus, crushed to mus (I did it with a fork), 100 g ham, two eggs, 150ml creme freche, salt, pepper, a pinch of nutmeg and 100 g grated cheese. I usually add 20-30 g flour to hold the filling together. Then you sprinkle the puff pastry with breadcrumbs, roll up the strudel, smear the top with egg yolk (the original recipe says melted butter but I find that too messy) and sprinkle with sesame seeds. And that's basically it — unless you forget the cheese like me. 🙄
