Nearly forgot to post today

... because my mind is like a sieve sometimes. To my defence, I had a somewhat busy day. I cooked for two days in advance (a dish of tuna, tomatoes, and sweet corn, with a cheese sauce and baked in the oven, plus a carrot soup), I made six more little egg baskets, and my friend Elise dropped by around 1am to fetch her cookies.
The generous person that she is, she brought some basic ingredients for me to fill up the reserves, of course, although I always tell her that it isn't necessary. This time, however, she was a bit overwhelmed, as Mum had decided to gift upon her a large, coffee and beige coloured valance tablecloth with its six serviettes that once belonged to my great-grandmother. We no longer have a table large enough to use it, and besides, we haven't had any big family get-togethers for over a decade or more. In the rare case that any family deigns to pay us a visit, we just have cookies.
Elise, OTOH, has two children, five grandchildren, her father, her mother-in-law, and when they come together, there are close to fifteen people around the table, so she'll put the festive tablecloth to good use. Plus, she's a person who really appreciates old and beautiful things, so Mum is happy that it went to the right people.
Afterwards, we decided to have just the soup and some leftover Faschiertes with buttered bread for lunch, watched some telly and had a nap. Well, I had a nap. Mum decided to do the washing up in the meantime, before her lady friends would call her, which always is a lengthy affair.
So, the plan for tomorrow is to be lazy, for both of us. Just puttering around in the flat, doing small things for ourselves. I look forward to it.
