No, not that TARDIS. I mean the highly specific flow of time. People think that just because I'm retired, I'd have all the time on Earth. Well... not quite.

Today I had to go to Lidl in a great haste, as we've all but run out of bread, milk and fruits and I needed to get home before the postwoman would bring Mum's pension. One needs bread and milk for breakfast, after all (well, we need fruit, too), and we wanted to have breakfast before Mum would have to deal with the financial part of like. In this case it meant to count the money several times (just to be on the safe side), changing big notes (that she got) to small ones of equal value (which I had), then count everything again several times, as the notes tend to stick together, and that complicates things. That process about take care of the whole morning.

We still had leftovers, so I didn't have to actually cook. I just made a salad to the remains of pulled pork and mashed potatoes, and lunch was really good. But barely had we finished, I had to leave again, this time to return the empty bottles to that automated... thing, so that we'd get the money back. (Pfand in German, no idea what it's called in English and too tired to look up, sorry).

I left at 3pm and went to school to pick up the eggs I'd ordered (one young colleague managed to reorganize the egg business and I'm one of the few regular clients) and pay for them. Choir practice started at 4.30pm and lasted till 6.30. By that time I was fairly dead on my feet. Fortunately, my friend Eenie gave me the usual lift, so at least I didn't have to drag my shopping bags home by bus. The best part of choir practice was that Erica (another retired colleague) was on Grandma duty and decided to bring her 1.5 year old granddaughter with her. The kid is extremely cute, and she was very patient. She only started protesting against all those old women singing her ears off after an hour and a half. *g*

So, this was another day when time flew by extremely fast. No me-time was included, unless a twenty-minute nap counts. But at least if was full of accomplishments.

Sorry, Frank, try again in English. What little Russian I once understood is long gone.

Sorry, a mailout got a bit overzealous. It's about a kind of a contest — write about things that have sentimental value for you, attach a hashtag, and so on. It's mainly aimed at cyrillc audience though, so I apologize for disturbing you with this.

No problem at all. At least I realized that I can still read Russian — even if i don't understand a word of what I'm reading. Tells you a lot about the quality of language lessons in my forgotten youth, doesn't it? *g*

We were pleasantly surprised. :)
Adrienne's son doesn't last longer than an hour and he's in kindergarten age already.

It still occupies my mind why they deliver the pension in cash. It seems so much more dangerous and copious. Is it because not every pensioner has a bank account? Are the fees for bank transfers too high?

People can choose if they want their pension delivered in cash or transferred to their bank accounts — assuming they do have one. Mum has cancelled hers, now that she can't go out on her own; but she never had her pension transferred there. She said she didn't want to run to a bank or a cash machine whenever he needed some real money.

aaah, I see. I misunderstood that and thought there was no choice everyone had to take their pension in cash.

Gosh, that was a busy day. Does choir count as 'me time'? I'm glad you got all your shopping done, at least. I was considering going out for a short walk today, but now it's raining, so TV watching it is.

It has been raining all night and all day here, too. Fortunately, it's a very mild rain, as I had to go out again in the morning. TV watching time is good.

I know what you mean — honestly the calendar in the kitchen hardly ever has a day on it without something that has to be done.

Especially if one has to care for an elderly parent 7/24. It isn't so that I wouldn't do it willingly, but the thousand little tasks practically eat up the whole day. And whenever someone is about to visit, I have to rearrange the entire daily schedule around that visit; that's why it's so annoying if they cancel in the last minute.

Wow, busy day. Glad your friend Eenie was able to give you a break and you had a good time at choir. Hope you have more "Me" time tomorrow.
