Successful? Unsuccessful? Eventful? Uneventful? Well, a bit of all, I guess.

I did the first food run of the week, and that was a success. Lidl had its French days, and since we hadn't had our coffee trip for quite some time, I thought I'd indulge and bought a wonderful plaited French brioche. That will take care of our breakfast for at least another four days. I also bought two French mini-baguettes, which we ate for lunch with a soup, so no cooking was necessary.

Okay, let's go on.

However, I was too tired/lazy/listless/whatever to make my planned trip to the Telekom customer service afterwards to have them set my new button-controlled phone, so that the phone number wouldn't be suppressed every time I try to call someone. Their numbers/names appear on my screen, but my number no longer does on theirs. All they see is "private number calling" or "unidentified caller". And that's annoying! I've alerted all my friends, but there are official calls coming to this phone, too. So this needs to be sorted. I was just not up to doing it today.

TBH, I haven't done much else today, either. Granted, I cut up some fabric scraps to make the parts for the lavender sachets, but that was, basically, it. The rest of the afternoon (once the physiotherapist lady had left) was spent with some crossword puzzles, some telly, and a really long nap.

Mum concerns:

Speaking of the physiotherapist lady, she doesn't like how Mum's right leg is still swollen from the middle of the lower leg down. It doesn't hurt, and it looks a great deal better in the morning, but it goes up later on again. Just like mine, in fact, but I've inherited Grandma's local circulatory... whatever and have had this for the last forty years. And Grandma lived a great 96 years and this wasn't what killed her in the end.

With Mum, it started about a month ago, and there might be some inflamed blood vessels or whatnot. However, she insists that it's nothing and refuses to ask the family doctor for a visit (who isn't a pleasant individual, so I can't really blame her). Fact is, we have no idea whom to turn to, who won't make it even worse as it's often the case nowadays. So we elevate the leg as much as we can, apply a salve against inflammation and pray. *sigh*

The chiropodist lady called to cancel our appointment tomorrow, as she's got a really bad cold - no need to share her germs with us. Plus, she's also taken a fall inside her flat and can barely walk. Poor thing, she's a few years older than I am, so I can relate. I don't mind a quiet, peaceful day tomorrow, but I'd have preferred to bring all these things behind me in one week.

There wasn't choir practice today as Monica gave us the day off, after the gig on Saturday. I did not participate in that, but didn't mind staying at home instead. I had - in certain areas still have - way too much stress lately. Let's see what the insurance lady says tomorrow; she'd be due this week as well... theoretically. In fact, she was due last week already but cancelled twice.

Yes, I am frustrated, how did you guess?

I've had edema in my lower legs for about twenty years now. I went to the doctor with it initially and he didn't seem worried at all. I just do what your mum does, and elevate my legs when I can. I treated myself to a 'rise and recline' chair a few years ago and won't go back to an ordinary chair now. The 'rise' function is helpful when my lower back is playing up, but otherwise I just use the footrest to elevate my legs.

New phones are never exactly how you want them :(

If your Mum's leg is not red, hot to touch, or painful, and the swelling goes down when it is elevated over-night, I wouldn't be too stressed about it.

It is a bit redder than usual, but nothing else. Still, I can't help being stressed.

Hope it's nothing to worry about with your mum's leg.

Edema often come with a weak heart or a thrombosis, especially when only one leg is affected. I would not take this lightly!

I'm trying to persuade her but I can't force her.
