Okay, it wasn't really that bad - just very busy.

It started with Mum having her weekly shower. We got up an hour earlier than usual, as she attends to Mass via telly on Sundays, but at least she was all prettied up for it. *g*

While she was at it, I baked these little sweeties, otherwise known as walnut cookies. They turned out very well, it just took quite some time to press the dough for the 52 half-walnuts into the individual moulds.

Afterwards, I've finished Emma the baby elephant. Actually, she's a tattoophant, as she has black lines across her left side because I was stupid enough to draw the outline on the patterned side of the fabric first. When I realized my mistake and re-did it on the other side, the lines didn't match, of course. But I decided that she's a rebellious little elephant who secretly visited a tattoo studio; that's my story and I stick to it. *g*

Behold the entire herd now. From top to bottom: Fanny and Flora (I rechristened Fleur), Ellie and Lola, Lilly and Emma.

My herd.jpg

Since I've run out of the nice, strong floral fabric, there won't be any more elephants for a while. Unless another old dress of Grandma shows up, which is unlikely. From the remaining scraps I'll make lavender sachets for the Christmas fair again.

Speaking of which, I got a brilliant (???) idea about how to recycle old lavener sachets that have lost their scent. I emptied them into an air-tight plastic box, mixed in two packages of freshly dried lavender flowers and will keep them there for a while until the entire amount gets scented again. I hope it works; if it does, it will enable me to make a great many sachets. Even some of the little sacks can be reused, which would save me a lot of work. *fingers crossed*

There was more housework on the to-do list. I made Erbsengemüse (a dish of green peas; no idea if it even exists in English-speaking countries) with scrambled eggs. Not exactly a festive Sunday menu, but that way I got rid of some canned green peas, the last of the cooking cream and two egg whites that were left over from the baking, so I'm not complaining. Plus, Mum likes green peas, and the canned ones are really soft, so she can eat them.

There was also the dried washing to be taken down, the piano (with all the dratted, heavy crystal things on top) to be dusted, the rubbish to be taken out... no wonder I slept an hour and a half in the afternoon!

We also watched some telly, and now the day is over again. I hope the financial consultant guy remains reliable and shows up tomorrow; that way I'd have at least one problem out of my hair.

They are cute, aren't they? :) Eventually, they'll all go to new homes (save for the grey one that Mum has claimed for herself), but until then I enjoy them very much.

The cookies look really good — and I love the elephants. You should write the story of Emma's visit to the tattoo shop and put it with her when she is rehomed.

She is already rehomed; they both are. Well, theoretically, as the new owner forgot to take them with him. 😀

Well, I have to explain the black lines somehow, haven’t I?

Well, it is a matter of taste, I guess. They are soft enough for Mum, and they make cooking blessedly easy.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend. It's a joke between Mom and I since we both really cannot stand canned peas but love fresh or frozen. Also, oddly I just realized we love a good thick split pea soup. Canned peas are almost the same texture. Once again, tho, I apologize!

No worries! I generális hate peas, but Mum loves them, and this is the way she can eat them. Personally, I don’t care either way.

I wish we lived closer. I have a huge lavender plant in the front garden. You could have had a bunch of lavender flowers to dry.

That is not the only reason I wish we would live closer. Imagine all the crafting fun we could have!

Is your Erbsengemüse anything like mushy peas? Because mushy peas I love!

Keine Ahnung. Es wird mit Mehlschwitze gemacht, mit Milch abgelöst und anschliessend weich gekocht
